Having noticed Pizza Pilgrims restaurants popping up in London and beyond over the past year, I was prompted to finally visit after watching the brothers on Saturday Kitchen.
The Manchester restaurant is bright and cheerfully decorated, with quirky seating at the tables and modern artwork, flyers and posters covering the walls. Our waitress Alina offered good advice and answered our questions about the vegetarian options. All the staff seemed friendly and happy to help.
My friend ordered the Margherita and I opted for the Amalfi Coast pizza. I was half-regretting not choosing a tomato base myself once our order was placed but on my first taste, I knew I had chosen perfectly. The fresh halved tomatoes explode in the mouth and are topped with a sliver of deliciously salty anchovy. The garlic herb oil makes the pizza taste like the most pimped-out garlic bread - just sensational. I went all in with the garlic & herb crust dipper sauce too. Perfect when you're craving carbs so you can savour every bit of the pizza base.
We both had the Italian cherry soda to drink. A refreshing, sugary hit, the drink also comes with a slice of lemon and the most delicious cherries we had ever tasted!
More than 24 hours later, I still can't stop thinking about my pizza, and there are a few others on the menu that I definitely wouldn't mind trying. Several pilgrimages are in store for me, and I hope they open more branches here in Manchester because it's likely to get very busy in there with...
Read moreI’m in love with this place! The food, the vibe, the team, 10/10! The drinks were fantastic, with so many great options. I’d never even heard of slushy shots before, but they were amazing. I also learned that this might be the closest you can get to an authentic OG pizza here in Manchester!
And the desserts? OML, I had to order the Nutella pizza ring twice because it was just that good, a definite must-try for chocolate lovers. I really appreciate that they’ve added halal and vegan pizza options for inclusivity.
The team and place here is wonderful — vibrant, happy, and full of energy. Elle did a brilliant job checking in on us throughout the evening and recommended the Watermelon and Strawberry Daiquiris, which became our absolute favourite. Pranathi and Nikki were both so sweet and caring, always making sure we were happy and stopping to chat. And Jacob? Such a sweetheart! He personally made sure our food reached our table, even checking in until it arrived.
Overall, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Everyone here looks stunning and friendly, they really made us feel...
Read moreLooks okay from outside, waitress was friendly. Other than that no positives at all! We ordered our food and these pizzas looked like something a child had made with minging toppings! I asked for the brocoli and sausage pizza and what came out was largely pizza base with a bit of topping which tasted and looked like seaweed (and not the nice type from the Chinese.) We asked for what we thought were 'dippers' which the menu described as being pizza crusts with a choice of dip, they forgot them and then only brought the dips so at that point we assumed that it was only dips and you dipped your own pizza crust in! Which if it was the case they were expensive dips! We each had a soft drink and shared a small possibly 5inch garlic bread with cheese and the bill was £55! Would never go again as the food was disgusting as were the prices! I don't mind paying for good food but felt fuming this morning when I realised I paid £55 for that! Honestly my description of the pizza does not give enough credit for how bad it was and how awful...
