Originally I sent my feedback via email to the Deansgate site and it was as it follows :

We had a 9 pm booking and we felt we were quite rushed through our dining experience, it took us about 1 hour and 15 minutes and we had a starter and extra course as well. Our drinks arrived after 1st course and all the dishes came out really quick as most of the dishes just seemed to be a deep fried item with some sauce. All of the courses were very bland and they did not look anything like in pictures. Saying that I was not looking dishes to look exactly like on pictures but the doughnut was just sloppy looking with a black blob on the top of it , the ultimate roast potato had about 3 of shoestring fries on it and the inside of the potato wasn't evenly cooked. We had high hopes about the Yorkshire puddings as it was additional 7 pounds but it was just normal Yorkshire puddings filled with lumpy mash in a white gravy - it had a hint of truffle flavor but tasted quite thin. The dessert was probably the best thing about the whole thing. Service - because of the late seating we felt like all the staff just had enough. We were sitting near the pass so we heard several comments from the waiting staff and kitchen like " it has been a longass day" , "can't wait to finish this shift" , "home time soon" and yeah I get it hospitality is not easy and most of the staff has been there probably all day and I definitely don't expect them to walk around smile on their faces but I would expect just a little bit more from a venue like this. Our server was good for remembering what was in the dishes but that was it , but no other engagement or never once he asked how was your food. In the end when the bill was dropped we asked the service charge to be taken off as we felt 15 pounds for underwhelming food is just little bit too much but even then we where not questioned if anything was wrong with the service or food. I've heard great things overall about six by Nico and I understand these tasting menus are entry level tasting menus so I wasn't even expecting much but this was total let down for us.

I wasn't expecting much maybe just "oh sorry this is not up to standard as usual " or something but I was sent fully AI created reply !!

Dear Kadri,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent dining experience with us. We genuinely appreciate your insights, as they help us improve our service and offerings.

I’m sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations. It's concerning to learn that you felt rushed during your meal, and I apologise for the delay in receiving your drinks. Our aim is to provide a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience, and I regret that we fell short in this regard.

Your comments about the quality and presentation of the dishes are noted. We strive to ensure that our food not only tastes great but also meets the visual standards we set. I will certainly pass your feedback on to our kitchen team for their review.

I also regret that our service did not reflect the high standards we aim for. Your experience with our staff's engagement and the comments overheard are unacceptable. I will address this with our team to ensure we provide a more positive atmosphere for all our guests.

Regarding the service charge, I understand your concerns and will work with our team to review our policies to ensure fairness and satisfaction for our customers. We appreciate your understanding of the challenges in the hospitality industry, but I assure you that your experience is important to us. I hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with the exceptional experience we strive for.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Best wishes,

Conan "

Thanks Conan and Six by Nico for this "...

Wasn't going to write a review but slept on it and still thought it wasn't a great experience. I feel bad because the waiter seemed nice but at the end of the day so many issues on the night and nothing really done to rectify it.

We had a booking for 7:30, we arrived at 7:25, weren't seated until 8pm (there is no bar to sit in and wait, only a hallway). We did the murder mystery menu and wanted the paired cocktails. We ordered the snack / aperitif and some water. We were asked if we wanted anything to drink as we were told there was no cocktail until the second course, but we didn't have a drinks menu or anything. We said we were happy with water for the time being, thinking the 1st course would only be 20 minutes. Aperitif / snack came quickly, however took 50 minutes for the 1st course to come. We were given a cocktail before the first course which confused me as we were told there was no cocktail for it. Then when the food came we realised it was actually the second course we were given. When my partner said we haven't had our 1st course yet, the waiter said sorry its his fault, he forgot to give us the 1st course. So we got the 2nd course to start and then 5 mins later we got the 1st course.

The first three courses came very quickly and we felt rushed, especially as we had cocktails to drink.

Then the fourth course took another 45 minutes to come, at this point it was 10:15pm (our booking was at 7:30). It was meant to be in a bell jar with smoke, but was told they 'ran out of smoke'? Not sure if the smoke had just gone because it had been sat there a while on the shelf. For an additional £6 we could order oysters but the waiter never told us about this, and because of the murder mystery element with clues being in every chapter we were advised not to read ahead or it would spoil it, so we didn't know about the oysters until the food came. I flagged down a waitress and asked if we could have oysters, they said they had ran out.

5th course came again 45 minutes later at 10:50pm, there was an additional brie course for £6 which we weren't asked/ told about that I would have liked but it was late as this point so I just wanted to hurry and leave. At the end of the 5th course, we were asked what we thought of the fingerprint clue, we didn't know what they were talking about. The waiter then said he had forgot to bring it over, he did bring it over when he realised.

Dessert came at 11:10pm at night, was quite nice, but partner went to the bathroom while I was drinking the matching cocktail and eating dessert and someone came 5-10 minutes later to ask if I was finished with the dessert - I said I wasn't finished as only had 2 bites of it at that point, and halfway through a cocktail. I noticed we were some of the only few left in there so not sure if they wanted us to leave as the place closes at 11:00pm.

Our table was meant to be 7.30, we left at 11:35pm. So four hours to have all that, it is meant to be a 2 hour experience. We were both hungry when we left. Also, a couple to the right of us came in 15 minutes after us and when we received our 4th course, they were already on their 6th and being served by the same waiter, so not sure why the other couple seemed to have prompt service but not us.

We did pay the service charge but honestly out of politeness, I wish we hadn't, was the worst service I'd ever had. Its meant to be a luxury place but they forgot to give us the first course and other things, and then making us feel rushed at the start and end then taking 45-50 minutes to bring out...

Our recent afternoon visit to Six by Nico in Deansgate, Manchester, for their 10-course chip shop-themed menu was absolutely fantastic. Things got off to a slightly slow start, as the restaurant was very busy and the courses were initially delayed. However, this was quickly resolved by the general manager, who couldn’t have been more professional or accommodating. His calm and attentive approach immediately set the tone for a wonderful experience.

Once things got moving, the meal became a truly unforgettable culinary journey. Each course was a clever reimagining of chip shop classics, blending nostalgic flavors with modern sophistication. From the playful ā€œChips & Cheese,ā€ featuring parmesan espuma and crisp potato terrine, to the rich and hearty ā€œSteak Pieā€ with tender beef shin and burnt onion ketchup, every dish was a delight.

My personal favorite had to be the Savoury ā€˜Ice Cream Sundae’. The goat’s cheese ice cream in a tiny cone was unexpected, creative, and completely delicious. It struck the perfect balance between sweet and savory, and I honestly didn’t want it to end.

The meal finished on a fun and indulgent note with the iconic Deep-Fried Mars Bar, paired with a refreshing Irn-Bru sorbet—a perfect homage to classic chippie culture, with just the right amount of cheeky nostalgia.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was bright and lively, perfectly matching the playful theme. Despite being busy, the energy never felt chaotic, and the attentive staff ensured we had everything we needed.

We left Six by Nico thoroughly impressed. The creativity and care that went into each dish were remarkable, and the service was excellent despite the initial hiccup. It’s the kind of place that not only serves great food but leaves you smiling long after you’ve left.

If you’re looking for a unique, delicious, and fun dining experience, Six by Nico is a must-visit. We’re already looking forward to...

Dining on Sunday we opted for the 10 course option and arrived at 12.45pm. We were informed that some courses would be brought together and sure enough the first three courses came out all together very quickly. We found the food for the most part was excellent with the exception of two dishes which was to be expected considering how many course there were. Its worth mentioning that many of the courses are no more than a couple of mouthfuls so you do finish them rather quickly and are ready for the next course. There were long gaps in between some courses and at one point we were waiting maybe 30 minutes with nothing coming. As the ninth course was brought to our table I asked the waiter for the bill with the last course and explained our parking (we parked for 2 hours) was due to expire soon, so we were in a bit of a rush. He promptly brought the bill and said another member of staff would bring the card machine to take payment. We waited a further 20 minutes after we finished and no final course or card machine arrived. We had been there a little over two hours now with some long gaps in service and just couldn't wait any longer so I ended up having to go and pay at the bar. The fact that we didn't get to try desert and the lack of attention marred the whole experience for us. It also seemed that the staff are changed during the service and I think this is where the gap in being served occurs. During our meal we had three different members serving us! Also worth noting the bill had two additional charges that said 'Beatson Donation' which totaled £2. I have no idea what this is for and if it is discretionary it shouldn't be randomly added to the bill without asking. I didn't ask as I didn't have time so just paid it. We wont return to Six by Nico as I think there are far better tasting menus on options in Manchester and surrounding where the service is a bit more attentive.

Very disappointing visit to the new Deansgate 6 by Nico. We bought the experience for my parents for Christmas and had bigged the place up based on our previous visit to the Spring Gardens location. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived but it was only a short wait, we then sat down and waited 40 minutes before the ā€œsnacksā€ course arrived- the Comte nuggets were very nice when they did get there. The first course- the broth was tepid at best and the scone was stale. The second course- flat cold. When we told our waitress she told us that only 2 parts of the dish were supposed to be warm- asked if we wanted another one which we said no as it had been 1.5 hours and we’d only had 2 courses at this point. The same course then came out again 30 minutes later. 2 hours in and 2 courses down we were starting to be late for our concert. The fish came and it was overcooked and completely tasteless. We had to ask the staff for more cutlery and had to remind them each time about our wine pairing which came in gimlet glasses (tiny serves). When the pork dish came it tipped us over the edge as the pork fat wasn’t cooked and the terrine was cold. At this point I called the manager over and explained everything that had gone wrong about the evening and told them to cancel the remaining courses and take away the pork. The manager was more than apologetic and to give them credit- wiped the bill clean as we hadn’t eaten anything in our 2.5 hours there. It really ruined our entire night in Manchester as we didn’t have the time to eat elsewhere and I wouldn’t return to this branch until they get their teething problems sorted and it reaches the standard I’ve come to expect from 6 by Nico. A standard seating is 2 hours and everyone around us had been there way over that resulting in a lot of guests waiting in the tiny reception. Style over substance at the minute and not worth a visit.
