I've eaten 3 times at this weatherspoons and 3 times it's been terrible. First time I ordered a chicken curry when it came out I tried to cut the whole chicken breast that was in the curry sauce. But it was that hard I couldn't even put my fork into it. Never mind cut it or eat it. When I complained about it they offerd to replace just the chicken breast. I told them that wasn't good enough. They reluctantly changed the whole meal.
The second time was for a Christmas get together of around 20 friends. Again the food was terrible like someone had gone to Iceland and chucked it in the oven. And the desert was a joke we had 2 tiny bowls with a few small chocolate brownies in between 20 people I'd have said it was only enough for 4 people max.
And the latest was this evening. I ordered a LARGE Mixed grill. I was asked how I like my steak cooked I replied rare. As soon as it came out I was disappointed with the presentation. And the cuts of meat were the tiniest I have ever seen on a mixed grill. I don't know why they bothered to ask how I wanted my steak cooked. Because it was all like lumps of charcoal.
I have always enjoyed meals at other weatherspoons such as the punch bowl in York. Fantastic breakfast and excellent mixed grill. But I will never eat in the gateway again. I've finally...
Read moreOverzealous manager , which seems to be the theme at weatherspoons.
Is this a lack of in house training? I felt discriminated by the female manager as soon as I challenged her , I purchased an alcoholic beverage for my 17yo son to accompany his meal, as I understand the government guidelines suggests there is nothing untoward. As soon as I had read your policy your manager begrudgingly gave me access to I decided to drink the drink myself and had no bad feelings towards the young lady.
But... narrsasitic comes to mind from her reaction after been challenged, clearly feels she was better than me and my family, I felt so upset the way she b-lined to me when I returned to the bar for another drink, shouting at me that she wasn't serving a member of my party, my reaction "please don't tell me, tell the person himself, who is an adult.
I genuinely feel this young lady would benefit from some extra training, or maybe even some training , maybe she has had a lot of responsibility put upon her and is unable to deal with minor situations in the correct manner.
As always the food was top drawer, the waiter very plesent , please help this young manager to correctly fill her...
Read moreCan’t beat Wetherspoons for value. That’s why they are anyways packed out. Although we went on 18 Sept and both had a curry, really nice and yes a bargain. We then ordered sticky toffee pudding, it arrived on a cold plate, cold sponge and swimming in already melted ice cream. Clearly sat waiting collection for at least 10 minutes before it was picked up in the kitchen. We asked the bar person to return it and to replace it, warm with less melted ice cream. We then had to chase this 10 minutes later and when it was served again it had been sat awaiting collection. At this point we had been disappointed with the very poor service so we gave up and got a refund. We asked to speak to the manager prior to the refund, we were told she was upstairs whilst the young staff members had a lunch time rush on., not good management. When she arrived at our table she agreed she was understaffed but wasn’t that her job to manage the team she had. Anyway we left disappointed as we do love a pudding. We’ll give that particular a miss for a while. And the table and menus were sticky and smelly. Really surprised as we have found Wetherspoons to usually be...
