Something weird going on here with wine prices. Served a NZ Sauvignon at £6.50 which had a deeply pungent odour, and unpleasant taste, was offered a Chilean alternative at £5.50, but no refund on the price. Same thing happened on the next round, despite asking for the Chilean Sav. I was offered the pungent version which was previously sold as the NZ bottle. A proper Manchester pub next to a Spoons and The City Arms. Paulicarus making his first visit. I mostly drink in the City Arms due to the bigger real ale selection but have been here a few times. Old style boozer in the heart of Manchester. And in the age of wine bars, cocktail bars and craft breweries, unfortunately there aren't many of those left. That's partly what makes it great, but the staff are great, too! A decent selection of beer with fair prices. And on warm evenings, spill out on the street and soak up the atmosphere.
