I've eaten here with my future wife and I wish I had seen the reviews before going inside. Let me breakdown the amount of issues we had there:
Food was expensive for the portions they were served on top of the surprise that all the prices on the menu you need to add £1 each because they coulnd't be arsed to print an updated menu. The "Raman" (that was the name on the menu) was was literally some noodles you can find in a supermarket (tbh, I've tried ones way better from Tesco) and the pieces of meat/seafood/chicken that came you could count with one hand. Choice of cuttlery was soo dumb. Everything was made of metal, so eating a hot soup it's just the worst choice ever. DO NOT order KimChi. The price is £3,50 (actually £4.5 if you add the extra surpise £1) and the portion is literally the size of a cookie (and not even one from Subway) The waitresses/waiters were so unpolite and behave in a way almost they don't care that you are there and they are making you the favor of serving you On top of the extra surprise £1 of each plate you are served on the menu, they also say they will add 10% because of their "amazing" service provided. Also, the 10% was not 10% because all the prices on the bill were rounded up (£2.7 was £3 for them) and when questioned the woman looked at me annoyed almost I'm accusing her of theft (which was actually how we felt after seeing the bill)
Bottom line is, for a meal of: Udon noodles with seafood + Seafood Raman + KimChi "cookie-size" portion + 2 Green Teas + 10% Service, we've paid a surprising amount of £32. I'm never coming back there and the only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because my girlfirend's Udon Noodles with seafood tasted really nice and the portion was nice, but I wouldn't pay £11-£12 for it.
Do yourself a fovor and go eat somewhere else with a better service that you will make's your...
Read moreMe and a friend decided to check this out as last year we had tried Korean food for the first time at Koreana, also in Manchester, and wanted to try somewhere different. We ordered the Cheaper of the two Korean BBQ offers, coming to £23.90 each, and found the prices somewhat steep but this included three different meats and a selection of banchan sidedishes. Compared to Koreana, we felt we received less variety and sidedishes than Koreana, despite the price, and some we enjoyed at the other restaurant, such as lotus root were absent also. Unlike in more authentic Korean restaurants, these aren't refillable either, and we had a small bowl of sticky rice between the two of us.
The restaurant has a nice ambience (the extractor fans above the grills are noisy though), the staff were attentive and friendly, however our experience was soured as when we asked for the bill, we found we had been given a service charge despite not being made aware of it before we started, assuming it was for the fact we opted this time for someone to tend to our BBQ for us, and also, we were givien only a couple of (very small) lettuce leaves to wrap with. I asked a couple of times for more, assuming they would be included free as some places do, but found that I had been charged for these too, without any notice of there being one. After complaining, the service charge was actually removed but these extra charges should've been made aware to us earlier. I can see this is something other reviewers have had problems with this too, as well as the lettuce fiasco.
It has been a while since we ate at Koreana so I'm not sure how the price compares to Ban Di Bul but I would say it did feel somewhat expensive in comparison, however the variety in meats and good service we did receive were plus points, I don't think I'll be eating here...
Read moreHorrific experience The whole service was chaotic from start to finish. And ended with a bang! Cashier was as rude as can be. The waitress had delivered the wrong dish and later demanded us to pay for the dish because we had “ate it all”. Table next to us had wrong dishes sent to their tables too and were informed to have to pay for it. Table behind us had wrong dishes delivered too. When we explained we shouldn’t have to pay for the staff’s mistake we were told exactly “not to argue” and that it was pointless for us to argue as we have “ate all of it”. Absolutely disgusting behavior from the cashier (which could also be the owner of the restaurant) with zero customer courtesy. Upon paying for the bill we also noticed two extra dishes charged to our bill that we did not order and did not have. It was subsequently removed. However if not careful anyone could’ve paid for it accidentally. Food was average. Experience was horrible. Worst dining experience yet. Disgusted we had to pay a dime to this badly run “pirate” restaurant. ( pirate because from being in the restaurant for 2 hours !! I have already witnessed multiple order mistakes and customers having to pay for those mistakes “if you had eaten the food wrongly delivered to you” ) If you are planing for an enjoyable dinning experience with loved ones, a word of advice: choose with caution. (Whisper* avoid at all cost ) Bonus credits: At one point the chef came out shouting at the waitress and pointing at a dish on a customer’s table saying “that is where the dish was sent to! The wrong table! ” When asked for the manager, cashier replied “oh the manager is not working today” (with a nasty smirk.) When we tried to fight for our customer’s right, she replied “so how do you want to do this? Wait for...
