My first stop in Manchester after arriving at the train station, I'd done a little research online before arriving in town, but being from the stone age I wanted to grab a physical map and talk to an actual person before exploring. Was slightly apprehensive given the negative reviews here. My first impression was it was not much of a visitor centre, just some nice stacks of maps for the taking and not much else. So like another guide here I decided to just grab a map and leave; as I was about to one of the staff approached me and asked if she could be of help. So I told her the sights that I wanted to see, and from the top of her head she indicated on my newly acquired map where things were, what buses to take and directions to get there. I guess all the information you need is available in the visitor centre, but its in the heads of the staff and you need to know enough about what you want to do for them to help you. I think I would have spent a lot more time walking in circles getting my bearings if it wasn't for the helpful lady from the visitor centre. My one gripe, and its not a reflection on the service provided, is the location of the centre, it would have been jolly useful if it had been located in the train station I arrived at, but given that Manchester has multiple major train stations, coach stations and an airport, its understandable why they would chose to have a single central location.

This information centre is in a very good location at Piccadilly gardens next to the public transport information centre.literally at the top of the interchange.the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.it hasn't the range of leaflets or souvenirs since it scaled down in size and moved to it's current location.still worth a visit for ideas of places to visit.

This visitor information is located in a prime spot within the central library of Manchester. The person at the information point provided us with a wealth of information about Manchester City, including points of interest to visit. The bar and restaurant recommendations were quite helpful, and you can also obtain a map of the city.

I called in yesterday. I thought the staff were very rude. No idea why one staff turned his back towards another member of staff and both started giggling. They showed their ignorance in the way they treated me and also how they treated me over an hearing problem I have. Kept turning away from me as I was speaking. Not very nice people and should not be employed because of their stinking attitude towards me as a customer. Also had a feeling they were taking the mickey because of a my accent!!!! Not very nice people at all. I hope this lot do not treat everyone the same way!!!! No smiles, no hello and just plain rude. I am thinking of making a complaint after how rude they were. They should not be allowed to get...

Had a bad experience here. We had ignorantly bought a day pass for the wrong bus company and went to enquire why all the buses we attempted to catch declined our pass. We were clearly confused and the staff member who assisted us was very unfriendly. We were spoken to like we had asked a dumb question and were given almost no further information as to how to get where we wanted to go. Completely opposite to how we've been treated in previous...
