Chilango 1 Sentence Summary: Fast yet tasty Tex-Mex finger food. What’s good here? I had the Nachos with chicken and all the trimmings and it was better than one would expect from a ‘fast Mex’ chain. Portion sizes were big - and the food filling - and every bit of it was fresh and tasty. Don’t overlook trying their own-brand table sauces; chipotle and hot pepper both are as good as branded sauces. A nice touch was a comment box is dressed up in a ‘Day of the Dead’ themed altar; not sure if that’s ominous or not. What’s an ‘Opportunity for Improvement’? As the tubs of options are quite wide-ranging, it maybe would be helpful if their contents were labelled big and bold, if only to help customers choose quicker. As it stands, first-time customers may be a little overwhelmed with reading the menu, pondering their options and then picking. Tell me more Chilango appears to be a UK version of Chipotle (think Mexican staples such as salsa, sour cream, refried beans, nachos, burritos, guacamole etc. served school-dinners style). How many Stars? 3 - It’s never going to be fine dining, and whilst the emphasis is on simple food served fast, it’s quite good in fact. Anything to disclose? No - paying customer, anonymously visited. How I Rate: I normally rate 1-4, with 5 reserved for ’Exceptional’, i.e. “deviating from the norm” or “truly worthy of note”. * 4 stars = very good * 3 stars = good * 2 stars = average or acceptable * 1 stars = poor

That was unexpected. I feel caught off guard by Chilango. My mouth is still burning and I love it. British restaurants that claim to have authentic Mexican food are not too difficult to find and invariably a disappointment. Chilango is different though. Chilango is good. They don't serve tacos or quesadillas or empanadas or... actually anything much except salads and burritos. On my travels on Mexico burritos aren't especially common (that's not to say they're not authentic just that you'll find a much broader range of tortilla-based food items before you encounter a burrito). It's the flavour where Chilango shines. The flavours are close to some of what you can find in Mexico. Unassuming, hot, surprising in their delicious simplicity. Sure, this is a fast-food joint but it's genuinely tasty, thoughtful food. Plus, the staff are friendly. Which is a massive departure from typical British (and European) service and a whole lot closer to the warmth, humility, and hospitality of Mexico. I love Mexico, I love Mexican food. Chilango isn't quite authentic Mexican food but those flavors and the service definitely capture the spirit of Mexico.

I rarely write reviews, but after my experience today, I felt it was necessary. I visited this Tortilla location two months ago with a friend, and we were both shocked by how rude the blonde lady serving was. The customer service was terrible, and my friend even tried to bring it up, but it was ignored. Today, I gave this place another chance and deeply regret it. The same blonde lady prepared my wrap, and again, her attitude was unnecessarily rude and aggressive. I had ordered lime in my wrap through the self-service screen, and when I politely asked if she had included it, she aggressively opened the wrap (making a mess of it) and shoved lime in. I’m paying for my food – not asking for it free – so why is it so difficult to just include what I ordered and treat customers with basic respect? I lost my appetite entirely. Other Tortilla branches, like the one in Arndale, actually ask if everything is okay. This one? It’s a complete letdown. And sadly, nothing has changed since my last visit. I hope management takes this seriously.

Today, 15/09/2024, at around 3 PM, I had an incredibly frustrating experience at this shop that left me deeply dissatisfied. I went in to buy 3 burritos, and when I placed my order, the machine did not reflect that the new beef burrito includes onions. I tried to inform the staff about this issue, expecting a simple resolution, but instead, I was met with a level of rudeness and hostility that was completely unacceptable.

This is the first time I’ve felt compelled to leave an online review, and I am appalled by the service I received. The shop was virtually empty, with only three people present: a chef, a lady, and a man who appeared to be in a supervisory role since he was not wearing any uniform. Despite his higher position, this man displayed an astonishingly poor attitude. His behavior was not only dismissive but also shockingly disrespectful. Instead of addressing my concern politely, he treated me like an inconvenience and spoke to me with a condescending and rude tone.

The level of unprofessionalism and disrespect I encountered was disgraceful. I was made to feel humiliated and disrespected, and it was clear that customer service is not a priority for this establishment. I strongly recommend that you avoid this place altogether. Based on my experience, I have no confidence in their ability to treat customers with the respect and courtesy they deserve. I hope the management takes serious action to address this issue and ensure that no one else has to endure such an unpleasant and...

Being a Thursday and the & bank holiday almost upon us again I thought I’d hit a different approach from the usual overnight oats & cheese sammich at my desk which my Cat watches me prepare like a satanical judge every night! Being so close to Oxford street I checked online to what’s nearby and thought maybe a hot tortilla on a cold rainy day would push me through to end of day!

Being a indecisive old fool as I am, I was greeted by happy smiles and a selection of different options to which two members of staff who very much ran me through your menu & deals by the names of Hannah & Charlie who were very knowledgeable of the business & I believe had been with the company for some time!

I walked away with a naked bowl & some churros just for good measure & the upsell to increase my waste line, the burrito bowl consisting of Coriander rice, Pork, pimento beans and a mountain of guac’ which very much felt like a hug in a bowl!

I think I’ve found my match, il be swiping right on the new eateries for lunch and taking her churros home to dip for a second time. Now all I have left to do is explain to my cat why my squished cheese sandwich is now at the bottom of my bag and why it’s home, thanks for getting...
