During my recent trip to Manchester City on the 23rd of June, 2025, I was on the lookout for halal food options as I always prefer to find somewhere that suits both dietary requirements and taste preferences. After a long day exploring the city, my colleagues and I were ready to sit down and enjoy a nice meal. One of my colleagues suggested we try Vapiano, as she had visited before and highly recommended their pasta. Based on her enthusiasm, we decided to give it a try.

Vapiano has a very modern and convenient ordering system. Instead of the traditional method of ordering through a waiter, each table has a QR code. You simply scan it with your phone, browse the menu, customize your order, and even pay the bill all online. While this was efficient and straightforward, it also meant there was limited interaction during the ordering process something that some diners might find a bit impersonal. However, the staff were around and available to assist, which made the process easier for those unfamiliar with it.

There were four of us dining that evening. After placing our orders, we waited for our food to arrive. One of my colleagues received her meal within about 15–20 minutes, which was fairly prompt. Watching her enjoy her dish made me more excited for mine!

We chose to create our own pasta dishes, which was a fun and customizable option. I went with a prawn pasta and another colleague opted for chicken pasta. I requested mine to be extra hot as I enjoy spicy food, though when the dish arrived, the spice level was milder than expected. That being said, the pasta was still very enjoyable. It was fresh, flavourful, and cooked just right. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to add a bit more salt and slightly more generous portions of prawns and chicken that little extra would have taken the dish from good to excellent.

What truly stood out was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Our server in particular was incredibly kind, attentive, and eager to ensure we were comfortable. Even though the ordering system is digital, it was clear that the team at Vapiano still values customer service.

One area that could use improvement is the seating arrangement. Unfortunately, the seating was not very comfortable, and from what I observed, the layout and access didn’t seem very disabled-friendly. This is something that could make the experience difficult for guests with mobility needs or those who require more accessible facilities.

Overall, despite a few small areas for improvement, we had a lovely experience. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. I left feeling satisfied and would definitely return to try more of their dishes perhaps something new from their menu or another customised pasta dish with a tweak in spice and protein quantity.

Vapiano in Manchester is a good option for those who enjoy fresh Italian food with the flexibility to personalize your meal. The modern ordering system, quality ingredients, and friendly service made for a pleasant dinner...

Visited prior to going to Simple Minds concert at AO arena. Had to queue for about 15 minutes to be seated, then we were put on a bench table, which already had a couple sat there, I really think you should have your own table ! ( I don't go to Wagamama for the same reason), so wasn't a great start. Waitress took a while to take our order, we wanted to share a pizza and salad, asked for it to be cut in half and placed with salad on each plate. It took almost half an hour to come and when it did , the pizza was on one plate and the salad came in one bowl, so I asked for another plate. Five minutes later a different waitress came and asked what we were wanting, so I asked again for another plate. Another 5 minutes passed before a plate arrived. So we cut pizza in half and then went to put salad on each plate. The top of salad looked reasonable, but underneath it was brown and soggy, so we couldn't eat it, we complained to a waitress and she said she would get a manager, she didn't, so we complained to another waitress, she offered a free dessert, but by this time we would have been late for the concert, so she agreed to take salad off the bill. The pizza was fine, but everything else disappointing. They also serve food to you as it is made, meaning you get food in a bizarre order and not as it should come, not great if you are there with others as they may have eaten theirs before you get your own food. Another couple were told about the way they serve food and decided to get up and leave, going to another restaurant across the other side of corn exchange to eat instead. It must put a lot of people off, along with sharing tables with strangers. Will not be...

I’ve been to Vapiano before to eat in and takeaway and have always enjoyed the food but this recent visit will be my last. We walked in and alerted a staff member that we had a reservation and he just said to go upstairs, didn’t assist us or anything. As we reached the top of the stairs another member of staff asked if we had a reservation and despite giving my name, she just kept pointing to random tables and asking if it was our name. She then pointed to the qr code on the table and said to use that before walking off. We placed our order online (no table service) and paid the 10% service charge, despite the staff so far being extremely uninterested in us. The dough balls starter arrived quickly and were nice but it was the mains where they really let themselves down. I ordered Pesto Basilco pasta and ate two mouthfuls before leaving it. The pasta was undercooked and from the hardness of it implied it was dried rather than freshly made and the pesto was horrible. It tasted almost grassy, it was that bitter. It really was unpleasant. After about 15 minutes a member of staff asked if I wanted to order something else but I refused and he left it at that. My son’s pepperoni pizza was edible but not flavourful. Overall, the service and the food really let Vapiano down. I paid £42 and walked out as hungry as when I entered and paid gratuity for staff who couldn’t contain their indifference.
