I don’t usually leave reviews, but I was absolutely devastated yesterday by how we were treated. I came here with 10 of my girls for my 21st birthday, and I honestly can’t believe the service we received.

First off, I just want to say that the food was lovely, the chefs did an amazing job (other than the hair in one of my friend’s meals, which we just looked past because we know mistakes happen… little did we know what was coming). The greeting at the door was pleasant, and the restaurant itself was beautiful, but the service was the real issue.

Unfortunately, after we sat down, we weren’t served for another 20 minutes. When we finally had our drinks order taken, the waiter walked away halfway through serving our table and didn’t come back to finish taking the rest of the orders until we had to call him over. When the drinks started arriving, over half of them were missing, and nothing was done to make up for this. We didn’t receive all of our drinks until we’d asked three different times. By this point, we’d been there an hour and still hadn’t had our food order taken.

We finally managed to get the waiter’s attention again, only for him to walk away halfway through taking the order AGAIN! When we complained, all he said was, “Oh, I’m so sorry.” Honestly, it was like he was high with the way he was acting.

The female waitress, however, was possibly the worst service I’ve ever experienced. She had the worst attitude, constantly made sarcastic comments towards us, and we even overheard her speaking about us behind our backs, saying unpleasant things. When the food finally came out, she walked over without knowing what the meals even were and literally said, “It’s a chicken… a thing,” before telling us we should know what we ordered, delivered in the most horrible tone. They even brought our platter to the wrong table, which the waitress saw happening and simply said, “Oh well.”

On top of that, one of the waiters somehow managed to spill drinks on me and my friend on two separate occasions.

90% of the girls there work in hospitality, and not one of us had ever experienced anything like it. We were left with our jaws on the floor after every single interaction with the staff.

Such a disappointing experience, safe to say, none of us will...

Booked to eat here on a Thursday evening mid August. Great first impressions but that’s pretty much it. Food wise it is average Japanese. Nothing special. The highlight was the octopus dough balls - simply amazing. Everyone must try it! Ordered 3 portions over the course of the evening but only 2 appeared. However when it came to the bill we were charged for 4 portions! Service - lacking greatly. Staff not trained. Young waitress dropped a fork while bringing out plates to us. Her first reaction was to pick it up and put it back on our table! Second reaction was to take it away and replace with a clean one. Ordered another pint of beer in readiness and the waitress proceeded to remove my pint which was half full. Had to tell her not to do that. Waitress went to the next table with drinks on a tray and promptly decided to make them wear their drinks instead. Red wine white wine coke lemonade gin- went flying all over the table and onto customers clothes and handbags. The bar was barely 5m away from the table. So why not make a few trips rather than fill a tray with drinks when the waitress is clearly very new in her job. I don’t understand why a restaurant would make customers use disposable chopsticks which is my pet hate when eating out. Nothing else is disposable apart from the napkins and chopsticks. Staff with mask on incorrectly. Waitress had hers under her nose. Manageress had hers supporting her chin. It’s not compulsory for staff to wear masks in restaurant but if you want to do it please do it properly. Ambience- lacking greatly. For half the time we were there the chefs in the kitchen thought it was ok to blast out their favourite tunes from the kitchen which then clashed with the music being played in the dining area. After 5min of that it all became noise which was not pleasant for anyone dining there. So many staff working front of house that evening and no one picked up on it. Tables were not socially distanced. We were ok for a while because we came in early. once other customers started coming in it became apparent that they were just a little too close for comfort. Left promptly once we felt a bit...

Overpriced and felt rushed to have my dinner

I went there last Saturday with a friend who was advised to try this restaurant. My friend made the reservation online one week in advance for a table at 6pm. It seems fine at first, but when we were asked twice for our drink/starter order within ten minutes I was not sure what to think. When we ordered drinks and food, the starters came quickly. Good I guess, but I felt rushed during the whole meal. We could see clients coming in and waiter/waitress looking at our table to see if we were finished or not. There was no particular attention from staff unless to check if we were done quickly enough for them. I finished my first drink and wasn’t offered if I would like to order another one, so I had another one, but rushed at the end to finish it. For desserts, portions are small for £7. When the waitress arrived with the dessert, my friend was surprised by the way it looked and though it was not the right dessert. She asked the waitress who didn’t seem sure herself. Not what you expect in terms of service! We left after spending 2 hours there and no goodbye. I do understand that Saturdays are probably the busiest day of the week for most restaurants and they try to take as much bookings as they can. From what my friend told me, on the booking system they inform you have a 2 hours slot for your meal. But still, it would be nice not to feel rushed within those 2 hours. Chilli Banana hasn’t offered an enjoyable experience and I felt I was just a money sign, eat my food as soon as possible and leave so table can be ready for the next one. In general, food was OK but not the best Thai food I ever had. And I do think it is overpriced for what it is in terms of portion/service/experience. Maybe we picked the wrong day or time, but I would not recommend this restaurant and will...

We’d had a few deliveries from here in the past and always thought delivery to be very fast and food of a nice quality and good flavours. However, on dining in on a Saturday evening we have said we’ll never go back in person. It’s evident that deliveries take priority. There’s no point making a reservation as this was not kept to. Everyone is just piling in through the door and no system in place. If you’re not confident enough to make your way forward and find someone to speak to you could well be stood there all evening. We were finally sat down 30 minutes after our original reservation time and no reservations were checked, people being sat before us without even saying they had a reservation. We were asked amongst us waiting who was first, relied upon people being genuine, despite a lot of customers trying to jump in front. Once finally sat, the wait to order our food wasn’t too bad. However, food took a while to come and it was disappointing just watching how many dishes were stacking up on the kitchen’s pass and not reaching the tables empty of food. I’ve no idea where the servers were, but they were rarely on the dining room floor with customers. No one once asked us how the food was and we were constantly having to flag someone down if needing anything else throughout the dining experience. We noticed this amongst all other customers as well. The food itself is really nice and nicely presented. Good quality of food for the price! Also had to challenge the bill as they had charged a 250ml glass of wine price against a 175ml glass of wine, and it even said on the bill “175ml” - make sure to double check the pricing of what you’ve ordered. Would have given 2 stars overall based on service, but have increased to 3 due to the food being good and having good delivery experiences prior.

Namaste. Located in the bustling area of Didsbury, famous for its food scene, Zumuku Sushi is a great place to go when you are looking for Pan Asian food. Let’s start with the atmosphere and service. They are both amazing. The staff are really nice (10/10) and the atmosphere is very hip and trendy. Now the food. First of all, there are plenty of drinks on offer. Of course, you have your usual drinks (wine, beer, coke) but they also have ramune lemonade (Japanese lemonade) which is kinda cool. However, I had a taro bubble tea with my food, and as a connoisseur of bubble tea (from past experience), it was delicious. For starters, I had Karaage Chicken. It was crunchy, juicy and came with a spicy mayo dip. Perfect! For the mains, I had some ramen with the before mentioned Karaage Chicken. The ramen was one of the best I ever had. It was spicy, creamy, warm, comforting, everything a ramen should be and more! Yum, yum! For dessert, I had apple pie gyozas. These gyozas were really nice, as they had a comforting and delicious apple pie filling and it came with ice cream🤤. Overall, this place was amazing, I can’t recommend it enough if you are looking for pan Asian food or looking for a nice place to eat at in Didsbury! I see most of the 1* reviews are for the previous restaurant... Strange! I haven't been to Japan (would love to) but I lived in London for 7 years and have eaten my fair share of good sushi. Our choice was Nagoya, which is a few doors down, but they weren't open for lunch today (Tuesday). My husband told me to put 2* for this review, but I have put 3* for the service. The sushi wasn't that bad really. Satisfactory portions and the fish seemed fresh enough (wasn't mushy and there wasn't any bad smell/taste). The chicken teriyaki was the let down. We've had enough of them in cheap places like Misato, London or Eat Tokyo, London to know how it should be done... But the chicken today was completely dry (don't be conned by the glistening sauce) and the sauce was overpoweringly sweet and salty. I was also quite disappointed that the green tea wasn't actual leaves... Just Taylor's teabags! If you're looking for more authentic, tasty and value for money food, Nagoya is the place to go! It's much tastier (especially the hot food), the meat won't be dry, and the green tea isn't from a teabag! Service at Zumu today was good though :) there was a piece of cling film stuck on the sushi, so they knocked off the price of a dish which I wasn't expecting. Lots of smiles from the female waiter too and she kept busy even though there were only 4 tables :)
