The Red Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Mansfield

Booked a table for my 50th birthday, it was £20 for this and you have to book in advance but this cost did come off your meal at the end, the day we went was a Sunday afternoon so we all had a look on the menu on line and looked forward to our meal when we got there... service was fast to show us our table and the young waitress asked us about drinks...after a little misunderstanding about what beers were available she promptly brought them over...however when she gave us our menus to choose from instead of the varied menu which we already saw on line there was only a limited Sunday menu list to choose from until 7pm much to my disappointment as this was not said when we booked...I don't like Sunday dinners and was looking forward to a meat feast of brisket and fries... but this was not the case...there was nothing on the starters that I could eat either and all the waitress could suggest was to that I could have a side order of maybe some roast potatoes or pig in blankets as one..but i decided to not have a starter, so disappointed I chose a meal meal of pork with no vegetables and a couple of side orders to fill it out...the meal did take a little while to come out as the place was quite busy...they have a card system when you need service too...red for service and green if your ok...well this system only works if the girls rushing around could actually see these cards...some kind of lollipop stand is needed so you can pop the card in the top and they could actually see you needed service would be better as most of the time we had to quickly grab a waitresses attention when she was near our table for some drinks, anyway gripes over now...the meal came out and looked quite nice for what it was, the meat was perfect and roast potatoes and pigs in blankets were really well cooked....no issues with the food at all the family really enjoyed what they had..the portions were quite large too, as for prices well it's standard really for Sunday lunchtime and not to expensive, I will go again but next time choose my time a little better, overall a good place for food. THE GLASS HOUSE, Beautiful room, staff were okay not great. I didn't feel like they wanted me there and they were not interested in me when I just wanted to pay for the room and not any extras. I paid for balloons from them though and I am glad that's all I bought as they were cheap and weren't even placed on every table as promised. I was here for a party so I provided cake and I bought six of those mini finger food packets which contain like 10 thing's each. Immediately I was told by someone who I've never met, that I needed to get rid of those as they are very strict with people bringing there own food. He didn't even introduce himself or say anything else then walked off. Disgraceful so you are telling me I've paid £200 pounds for a room that you are going to make alot of money from with the drinks served and I can provide cake, but not a few bites. A couple of family members that arrived early wanted food and they went downstairs and was told no. So that was insult to injury. I can't provide a few snacks before the party starts, but you won't allow anyone to buy food anyway. Wow. Certainly will not be...

David and the team are simply faultless, if you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue then look no further. I helped to plan a wedding at the Glasshouse for my brother and sister-in-law and everything from the very first initial meeting was smooth and simple.

David, Jake and their team work in beautiful harmony with each other, communication was great between us, them and other wedding vendors we had, and when it came to the actual wedding day itself, everything looked stunning and was meticulously planned with perfect attention to detail - these guys have done this before and it showed, the room transitions and changes were hardly noticed and were executed well. Food was also incredible as it always is from here and was served to the tables quickly and efficiently with no complains - everyone got exactly as they ordered it and all requests were acknowledged.

David was present on the day and went above and beyond to literally do anything and everything that was asked or presented to him, he is the most attentive, trustworthy wedding host you could ever want and he ensured it was a truly amazing day...
