Nando's Solihull — Restaurant in Metropolitan Borough of Solihull

Me and my boyfriend came on Monday evening for dinner at 8 pm. It says online you are open until 10pm. However it didn’t feel like this. We ordered our food sat at our table to wait. Whilst we was waiting we noticed there was 4 staff members sat up on the high tables right in the centre of the restaurant. One of them a larger gentleman who came across like management. But I hope not by his behaviour. He sat there and ate for the whole time we was there pretty much. And all the staff was also helping themselves to a large plate of chips in the centre of the table. They was all just chatting about life. All in uniform and appeared to be on shift as they was also serving customers whist eating. We had our food which was nice. We ordered some bottomless ice cream. They brought the tubs over without cleaning our table. So we ate ice cream with our dirty plates still in front of us. Whilst staff just chatted at this large centre table. They finally collected our plates. We went to get more ice cream and it was empty. They said sorry it’s finished now. It was 8:45pm. We finished our drinks. And the last of the customers left also. Then it felt like the staff was staring at us waiting for us to leave. It was only 9pm at this point. We felt very rushed. I used the toilet before leaving and I wished I hadn’t. There was no toilet roll. No hand soap and it’s smelt like urine. I’d understand all this if the restaurant was busy but it was dead and lots of staff. They was just having what appeared to be a party. We was very disappointed and I just hope this gets fed back. It’s a shame because we love your food. The staff all need replacing...

Great food as always. Service was a little slow but it appeared that staffing was low initially. However this was just before midday. Soon after that as it got busy it appeared that there were more staff and normal service had resumed. Nice venue, friendly staff. What more could you ask for 👌🏽

Update 12/07/24: Weirdly this branch didn't seem as busy today for a Friday night but there was still some people waiting for seating. We got a table swiftly and sat down. Ordered over the app as I normally do where it didn't take long for the food to arrive. There were new bits on the menu which was nice to see. Normally order a grilled halloumi to accompany my food, however today it arrived cool. Wasn't happy as it also looked like it had been battered and ripped down the middle. Raised this with staff which they took away but after a period of time it didn't come back so again had to tell a member of staff. They brought me back the same one I had which was just placed under the heat lamp still looking in the same battered state it was given originally. Raised this again to which eventually a fresh one was given.

The biggest let down was the cleanliness of where we sat. It was very dusty which clearly hasn't been cleaned in some time to the point there was even someone chewing gum with dust gathered on top of that. Had this had been noticed it the first place I would've chosen to have sit somewhere else.

Service was good at meet and greet. Got taken to a table of our choice and seated.

We placed the order on the app which was fine and food came out fine.

I did however forget to order a drink. So I went over to the till and 5 members of staff literally just walked pasted me without any acknowledgement, including the manager Dan. Dan was behind the till for the duration of me waiting. 10-15 minutes later, the lady who greeted us and sat us down helped as she seen I waiting. She’s apologised for wait.

Also, at no point did anyone come over to see if everything was ok and if we needed anything else. The people at the table next to us came after us and were attended to and got asked if everything was ok and if they needed anything else.
