The atmosphere is always so pleasant and welcoming, the food is always fresh and top tier, along side the drinks and most of the staff are very pleasant and caring apart from a-few. Alas there is a member of staff that has been in, during my last few visits, who has unfortunately made my visits less enjoyable and slightly intimidating, who is known as Gemma I believe. There’s a number of things that come to mind however the main things that reduce me having a good time, is her demeanour, the way she holds herself and sometimes, the way I’ve been spoken to and witnessed others being spoken to. I can completely understand and empathise the state that some people can get into, but the way some have been spoken to is very inhumane and dismissive. I was shocked to find out she is in an authoritative position, as manager or bar leader, considering how she’s spoken to customers. I further empathise for the team if they get treated in anyway close to how, I amongst others have been treated.
Other than that I have no complaints, captain Ridley’s has always flourished and has been my go to place for the last 4 years. I do hope that the branch can continue to reach its full potential and nips situations like...
Read moreWe went New Year’s Day to grab a big brunch - the food itself was lovely, we couldn’t fault it! However, my partner ordered his before mine to the same table and had to wait over an hour. After waiting for 45 minutes he went to ask where his food was; after speaking to a rude member of staff telling him she ‘wasn’t sure’ when his food would come, brushing him off, the mood dampened when we had all finished our brunches; still waiting for his. With this, members of staff serving us that day were particularly rude, speaking back to customers asking where their food was rudely and telling them they were wrong and had ordered different items. One member of staff had spoken to another in a way in which annoyed the tables around us, including ourselves, blaming him for a mistake and telling him she ‘told him’ very loudly in front of customers - this must’ve been very uncomfortable and embarrassing for him! Overall not a nice experience, and we will be speaking to head office about treatment of customers and staff - we understand it was busy, but this did not warrant the behaviour received and the prolonged wait for one member...
Read moreDidn't stay as walked through the door and the building to the rear garden with my dog . Only to be told after sitting down for 5 to 10 mins while choosing my meal, that my dog wasn't allowed anywhere on the premises. I was not informed by any staff who witnessed me walking through the building to the rear. Which is some considerable way to be informed. I asked if I could go through the fire exit so not going back through the building only to be told no you will have to pick him up and carry him through the building. I have a small sized dog which has been in this pub before. So glad I don't have a large dog as I would not be able to pick it up . After coming out I looked at the door entrance and there is no signs that state no dogs allowed. I googled Wetherspoons pub and to my surprise found out that all dogs are banned from all of their pubs . Some signage would have been nice to save the embarrassment of having to put up with the stares from the other customers who obviously see myself walk through the door with my dog only to be carrying him out 5 to 10...
