I've been going to this Weatherspoons since I've looked old enough to and have always enjoyed it, however this changed when I ordered a Philly cheesesteak. After a long wait they came to my table and explained that they didn't have any cheese. I asked if they could substitute it for any other cheese and they explained that they could not because it already came as a sauce and they had run out, however they had already cooked the rest and asked if I wanted it. No. I didn't want a Philly cheesesteak without the cheese, I explained, and asked to order something else - eventually settling on a burger.
They seemed a bit annoyed but at this but ultimately they had let me order a Philly cheesesteak, started cooking it, then realised they didn't have a fairly essential ingredient. They had also cooked and served my wife's burger before the told me they didn't have any cheese for my food. Eventually the burger cam out, I ate it then started a 1 hour drive.
30 minutes into this drive I had the immediate need to empty my bowls. The only thing I had eaten that day was the burger that was reluctantly made for me after I rejected the cheeseless Philly cheesesteak. I had to pull into a petrol station with a queue of people waiting for the single bathroom, eventually it got to my turn and the woman in the bathroom explained on the way past me 'aint no loo roll'. I helped myself to a pile of the Costa self serve coffee machines and with a deep breath. Stepped into exactly what you expect from an overused single bathroom in a service station to void my bowl of its entire content.
I don't have food allergies, I don't react badly to food, or driving. And infanct thehe only thing I ate that day was the burger made by the same people who seemed annoyed that I rejected a cheeseless Philly cheesesteak. I don't know what they did to that burger and I would rather not know, but I do know I'll never eat at this...
Read moreI am a once a month visitor for breakfast. I choose to go to Wetherspoons and have a certain expectation when I go (pretty much no expectation - cheap, low quality food). What I don't expect is poor service from staff. For example, this morning, one of my group ordered Mushrooms benedict (I know, Mushrooms benedict right? He got grief for it!), another person ordered Bacon and eggs with black pudding. Interestingly, it arrived altogether on one plate (whilst they are best of friends, they didn't fancy eating from the same plate - they're not the 'Lady and the Tramp' types). It was duly returned to the kitchen, at which point one of the regular staff came across to us and aggressively asked 'What's the problem?'. We explained again as the original waiter had probably not understood what we wanted. She left with no explanation other than muttering something about the order as she left, or apology for the error. The two new plates arrived correctly and the original waiter did apologise in fairness to him (we'd not seen him before so probably new and not yet infected with the sickness that is cavalier customer service). So if you visit Wetherspoons, expect parts of your food to be cold, expect the order to be wrong, expect to be intimidated by surly staff due to having to do twice the work to rectify their mistake and when you only experience one of those, your expectations will have been exceeded and you will be very happy...
Read moreIf I could give a 0 I would of done it! Food was overcooked, looked like the chips we had with our fish have been cooked more than once and on top of that cold when it arrived. It was clear it has been sat under the light for a while. We were hungry so we decided not to complain. However, when asked for sauces we got told we can find them inside. So I got up and helped myself but there was no mayo. I asked one of the girls who worked there if she could check the other station for me. She went and checked but there was no mayo on the other side either.. A normal thing for a member of staff to do in a pub is to go and replenish the sauces for the CUSTOMER. If there is none they should go and ask the kitchen. Therefore, I asked if the member of staff could go and check with the kitchen.. To this I received an EYE ROLL.. I was shocked at the service provided as I work as a Manager in a pub myself. We would never disrespect a guest like that. The member of staff went to the manager who came and spoke to us as if we did something wrong.. We will definitely be taking this further as it is absurd that in such a quiet period of service we got such treatment,...
