I’ve had Acropolis at various markets throughout the years, have also eaten inside their actual places, and ordered from there too so evidently, I think quite positively of the food. The gyros can be a nightmare to eat as they’ll inevitably fall apart, and the sauce goes everywhere. Not so much of a problem if you’re eating inside or at home but if you’re trying to eat it stood up, outside, at a market, super anxiety-inducing, for me anyways. The flavours of the halloumi gyro are enough to make that worthwhile though. The tirokroketes were pretty good too but I don’t think they do them anymore. I already liked this place initially but I definitely liked it more after I tried gyros from several other places that paled in comparison. Introduced my family and partner to this place and they all really enjoyed it, especially my grandma who now likes it more than I do. I think the gyros can sometimes be inconsistent with their filling, proportion of halloumi, salad, chips. Speaking of which, I think the chips could be a lot better, and are definitely the worst part. Last time I was here, I did find the guy that served me quite unfriendly, rude and just not a good representation of the business, that day at least. I did not feel particularly welcomed or valued as a customer. As for the other staff member, she was much more polite and professional thankfully. A lot of reviews saying they think the prices are spot on, I actually disagree with that. I do think they should be a bit cheaper. As nice as the wraps are, there’s not a lot to them ingredients wise, so I think £10 is pushing it for what you’re getting. Overall though, pretty good indeed, and would...
Read moreI'm very disappointed with the order I place by Uber eats... The food was send around one hour earlier and arrived cold... Driver said in the restaurant was prepared different food for other customer while my order was ready and he needs to wait for the right order for another customer so this food shouldn't be send to me they should prepare fresh food for me. The portion for £15 for platter and for 2 pieces of halloumi (2 fries) for £3 is really funny. I was eating so many times in greek restaurants and they always giving massive portions of food because in their country this is priority but I cannot feel this here. The fries under the chicken make me really angry, because there is more fries and pita bread than chicken on the plate! Salad have more lettuce than any other vegetables... I will never order again, because is time and money waisting. And to be honest! You cannot reheat the food because is not...
Read moreAcropolis Street Food in Jesmond is a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic Greek flavors! The vibrant atmosphere instantly makes you feel welcome, and the decor adds to the charm. The menu features a great variety of dishes, but the gyros are definitely the star of the show—packed with flavor and served with fresh ingredients in a warm pita.
I also highly recommend trying the halloumi fries; they are crispy and delicious! The service is prompt and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Prices are quite reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you receive.
