Food was really nice once it came, however we waited OVER AN HOUR for some toasted sandwiches! The place was not at all busy, and no staff spoke to us to address this issue. Even when we asked about it (35 mins after ordering) the guy said he'd go and find out and then made no attempt to come and let us know the outcome. I then went and spoke to them again after an hour (running late for our next appointment and very hungry by this time!) and he said he'd go and speak to the manager . . He actually disappeared into the back and failed to return for over 30 mins - making sure we were gone by then time he came back so I couldn't pull him up again. Absolutely disgraceful service. Lack of bothering to explain of there has been a problem, lack of answering a question and total lack of any form of customer service. The w members of staff were clearly bored with nothing to do, yet still couldn't be bothered to even apologise for the long wait. 2 young children to entertain who were absolutely starving by the time did came. Do not EVER go to this place for food. Doesn't matter how nice the food is, you'll have gnawed your own arm off by the...
Read moreFor a Friday night in town, taking the kids to eat here was okay and could be booked in advance. The pub was busy, with what appeared to be a pub quiz going on, and our reserved table wasn't ready, as people had taken over it. The staff quickly got the table ready, but it was over 40 minutes before food was brought to our table. The staff were polite and welcoming, but without music, the overall atmosphere was of loud chatter. The heat near the bar was unbearable and we were pleased to be near the windows where it was cooler. Still, the pub is cosy, despite needing a few repairs to chairs. We ordered a range of dishes and the food was generally good, especially the 'award winning' (according to the menu) steak and ale pie. The burger was tasty and the kids meals were good, but limited. The disappointment was the accompanying veg with the pie (I've never seen such a small amount of mash on a plate) and the small volume of sides with the burger left the plate looking empty...
Read moreCame to the Crows Nest with my Step-Dad for a meal, we had booked a table a few days ago for today at 17:30 and were told to find ourselves a seat, baring in mind the only table with two free seats had hair clips and crumbs on. There isn’t a point in having a booking system when it isn’t being used. Thankfully it was just the two of us rather than a group of 6 or so as we’d not have had a chance for a table. A lack of customer service in all honesty and who looked to be the manager was chatting about how hungover he was with his colleague behind the bar. 50 minute wait for food, but a smile wouldn’t have gone unnoticed. Food came out and I’ll give it to the chefs it was lovely, apart from the missing onion rings on the burger plate. No check back from waiting staff, therefore this wasn’t amended and I wasn’t going back to the bar from how it was the first time round. With another Greeneking across the road we may have had better luck...
