Myself and my two female friends stopped here for a drink after dinner and one of us brought her drink from the restaurant, unaware they were not allowed on the premises. She was told by a member of stafg that it was not allowed, so she told him OK, that she would finish and dispose of it. He didn't want to allow this and made a move to snatch the bottle from her.
Naturally, she wasn't happy with this as the bottle was still about half full, so she asserted that she would finish it outside. She did so and disposed of the bottle, then came back and sat downstairs, thinking this would be fine now, as we had gotten rid of it.
NOT SO! When we came back, the staff member, another member of staff AND a manager were stood in a corner GLARING down our group in an intimidating way, clearly trying to "catch us out" drinking from the bottle? Weird. A few minutes of this intimidation and the manager comes over and very passive aggressively asks if we have any open bottles from outside and we say no, he accuses us of lying as he had been told we had some (no, we told the staff member we were getting rid of it and it was now gone) which we disputed. He then threatened to kick us from the pub if he saw us with any more (which obviously we didn't have).
Then for the next TEN or so minutes, the manager, original staff member or BOTH were stood in the same corner GLARING at us as we tried to enjoy our evening in such a threatening atmosphere over a misunderstanding that we corrected!
Suffice to say this was NOT a good end to our girls' night out to be intimidated by two men who we had followed the instructions of and apologised.
Spicy mango cocktail was banging though, hope they don't glare at us for...
Read moreWhat an utter dump!! The lady manager with blonde hair is rude, condescending, and discriminates against disabled people. Refusing entry to people with assistance dogs who require their assistance dog to be with them at all times to live a normal life is dehumanising!! Which may I add is breaking the law! I've also seen that this hasn't just happened once, but multiple times! Would you refuse a wheelchair user to enter? Someone with an oxygen tank? Etc.. Weatherspoons you need to educate your staff correctly. The manager and bouncers were patronising, and dehumanising, people. DO NOT GO HERE. Quite clearly they only allow people without disabilities in here with their attitude. Honestly, I'm gobsmacked at what I've witnessed. Weatherspoons, do better! The manager wants sacking, and a new one hiring that has better people skills, that listens, that doesn't discriminate, and that treats people fairly and respectfully which the current one is greatly lacking.i definitely won't be coming here as i know I will be denied entry with my jack russell assistance dog. I (and I speak for every other disabled person) have never felt so trapped and discriminated against in my life. We don't ask or pick and choose our disabilities. WE CANT HELP THAT WE REQUIRE HELP/SUPPORT/ASSISTANCE BY OUR ASSISTANCE DOGS WE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THEM. WE REQUIRE THEM TO LIVE A NORMAL LIFE!! And trying to punish and take away our human rights due to having a disability is not right and not lawful!! The Equality Act 2010 clearly states "a business cannot refuse entry to an...
Read moreThey denied a service dogs owner entry which is against the law claiming that it is weatherspoon policy to not allow in any assistance dogs unless they are GUIDE DOG only. Which is against the law. The manager with the blond hair was arguing with the owner who was informing them that is is intact against the law to refuse entry to someone with a service dog. The lady also declined to tell her name and argued continually that it's not against the law and it is a weather spoon policy to discriminate against assistance dogs. Shame on you. Its disgusting you allow your staff to speak to customers that way and blatantly ignore the equality act 2010 which says business are not allowed to refuse assistant animals. You wouldn't expect someone to leave their oxygen tank at home would you? The manager should be more informed about THE LAW. She could of also diffused the situation at any point but decided to argue against the Law set in place so discrimination like this doesn't happen. Shame on you and your pub. If they don't know the law they shouldn't work in a business I hope you compensate this girl for her awful experience that your staff made even worse.
Its 2022 and your staff don't know the law, discriminate against needing an assistant dog and denies access which is against the...
