I love scones... I especially love savory scones and I also adore a good tea. So this place should be right up my street. However I have to balance this out with the waiting time for a seat which can be anything from 20 mins to 50 and then as I found out on my second visit can even mean being placed under the stairs on the floor. Yes you read correctly. A coffee table and some pillows under the stairs constitutes a wait of 20 mins. The food is indeed nice and I do love a Newcastle stottie and make sure to have one every time I visit and with a soup and toasted it's amazing. They also do a variety of other fillings/toppings including a rarebit which again is lovely and always gets a salad on the side. I have also seen the pancakes which look yummy and the eggs royale was particularly nice. Finally price I would say reasonable and if you have that student discount even better. It's an experience I think everyone should try just don't go when your starving as you will be waiting and apparently you should specify I want a chair and not eat like harry potter buy other than that give it a go.

Fabulous teahouse. Very busy when I visited. Teahouse it is indeed, with superb range of teas on offer, a whole page full on the menu. Bravo, I love places like this. Totally spoilt for choice. Really very good choice on menu for vegetarians and vegans. I had the orange spice tea, loose leaf, in a pot. Very good. I had a Buddha bowl topped with tofu. Oh my word, it was the best I've ever had, totally scrummy. The way they do the tofu here!!! It was crispy, crunchy, melty in your mouthy! High nom factor. Buddha bowl was lettuce, chick peas, hummous, beetroot, broccoli and pickled red cabbage. Their range of cakes looked phenomenal too, but I was full. Boo n bahh! I shall be coming to the Claremont Teahouse every time I visit Newcastle. Outstanding. So highly recommended.

I recently visited Claremont Teahouse and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing meal or catch-up with friends. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the bagels. Partnering with local favorite Dot Bagels, Claremont Teahouse offers a variety of delicious and freshly made bagels with inventive fillings. In addition to the fantastic food, the teahouse boasts an impressive selection of teas curated by Love Leaf Tea, catering to all tastes. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or just a cup of tea with a sweet treat, Claremont Teahouse is a must-visit in Newcastle. I can’t wait for my next visit!

I was excited to see QB has rebranded and reopened but unfortunately my experience today was regretful. My sister and I ordered a breakfast option and two teas. As we sat, the tea house slowly filled up which is to be expected. What I didn’t expect was to be kicked out roughly an hour later by the manager when a group of 3 came in looking for a table. Bear in mind, we were not the first people to arrive, I still intended to order more tea and we were a party of two at a small table near the entrance. If the manager was so intent on creating space, it would’ve made more sense to request a group of 4 (there were 2 which had been there longer than us) to leave— although of course, I don’t condone kicking anyone out. People at the tea house are accustomed to waiting and it’s perfectly acceptable to tell people a wait time too. I told the manager I intended to order again and she insisted that people were only allowed to stay for an hour and a half (a completely made up rule I’ve never heard of for a tea house— and besides we weren’t forewarned of this when we were first seated). From the beginning she had very stand off-ish energy and was patrolling the tea house much more like a bodyguard than a manager. I’m not sure if there was an element of discrimination in her decision to remove us but either way the experience was embarrassing and upsetting. I will say, the tea itself was excellent and the rest of the staff...

Low rating because the service is terrible and rude! They forgot my order twice!

I went to this place with a friend as he wanted to check it out and I have to say, I didn’t enjoy it. The atmosphere was quite nice, we were placed in a quiet booth so it was good for conversation.

However, the service was absolutely terrible! They forgot my order (just coffee and a cake) left us for ages, and the cake itself was very tasteless.

I actually went back the next day with two more friends, writing it off as a bad service day or bad order because another friend wanted to try it out after seeing I went.

Once again, TERRIBLE SERVICE. We only ordered tea and they forgot about us. We sat for probably 30 minutes without a drink and when I asked a server about it she was quite rude and short with me. She side-eyed me, saying they were probably still make it. They forgot. They forgot. Twice in two days they couldn’t follow their orders - there were about 4-5 other tables of people so around 15 people in the place.

Have to say I won’t be back, won’t be recommending this place either. Maybe if their service and servers change this could be a...

Apologies no pictures as I was on a date. Now I love this place I am an avid tea drinker (as is my date, our first date was there) and have had lovely cakes and lunches there before. The afternoon tea was so disappointing. It’s priced £22 per head. We got a pot of our tea each. Some little sliced bread sandwiches. A fruit scone each and a cheese scone each. Then a few little traybakes. Blondiee, brownies etc (all tiny). I’m not much of a blondie and brownie fan anyway and they were overpoweringly sweet and I barely touched any. I was very surprised not to have any of their nice cakes. We asked for another pot of tea each. I had expected it would be free refills of tea as other places I have had afternoon tea they are. Apparently not as my total bill was £52.50. Also no one ever came to ask if we needed more tea. We had to flag a member of staff down when we saw one. My last afternoon tea in Newcastle was cake stories in Hoults yard which was far better. I felt this was really poor value for money. It was like all the cheap rubbish was used for afternoon tea. Very disappointing when I have enjoyed all my other...
