So for starters I heard about this place around social media, and was around gosforth and came from Outisde Newcastle (30 mins)on an errand and had some free time.Pepes interior and shop front instantly grabbed me in with a unique and authentic look. The interior was amazing and unique with a very very clean and sleek look. The staff were amazing and particularly their manager who greeted me instantly, and was so kind and welcoming recommending a variety of their menu(Which by the way was massive and had food for all tastes !). They also had a peri meter which showed the range of flavours/seasoning your food could come with (picture provided below) what was even more impressive is that each flavour was described with a taste and it matched it !.I went with the classic chicken strips and peri chips (Hot flavour)which came really fast and there was no long waiting time, impressive for how good it was, which was bursting with flavour and had a lovely punch to it,the chips were crispy and soft in the middle and the chicken quality was out of the world.I’ve never experienced chicken like it !.Finally the prices were more than fair, especially with the quality and range of flavours and options you simply cant complain. And a plus the garlic sauces had a nice smooth texture and flavour cooling down the spice making a great balance.Overall I couldn’t recommend these guys high enough and get a 10/10 I will be back to try their vast menu options.
P.s you simply just don’t get this at your other typical fast...
Read moreI usually head to the west end for food, especially for some spice and grilled food. However Pepes opened up on Gosforth High Street around the corner from us earlier this year I think it was. And actually bit of a treat! Popped in again tonight.
We got half flame grilled chicken mild spice, peri peri chips. drink and dip. £12.50.
Phoned up for collection. Ready in 15mins. Food was packaged up nicely and still hot by the time I got home.
Lovely flavours, great quality fresh chicken. I would recommend opting for the Peri Peri seasoned chips, gorgeous. Don’t forget to tip out the peri peri sauce out the foil packaging! Service was good and fast. Place was very clean. Only criticism on this visit, the guy on the till could have greeted me a bit sooner, was left hanging for a bit. But friendly nonetheless.
So how does Pepes Gosforth rank in the Peri Peri game 📈. For me at least! Nandos is obviously most common place to go just beats it. But this Pepes is still really good, saucier than Nandos, and so far has not been dry, on par with Spice Hut on west road. So very very good!
Other places for decent peri peri are Lasani Grill (west road) Dixy
It was nice to not do a 40min round trip to west end for a change and stay local.
Inside is nice and quite spacious if you...
Read moreWe usually go to Pepe’s at West gate road, we thought we should try this Pepe as well . First of all just to pick up the food there was no free parking so we thought if we are paying for parking then let’s sit in and eat . Before ordering the food we were talking to each other that this Pepe is bit more expensive than the Fenham one . The person on the counter was listening our conversation, he said because this takeaway is on right street that’s why it’s expensive , we agreed and once we placed the order and sit on the table and started to eat that person came to us and asked about food , we told him wrap is ok but rice are not tasting fresh , he introduced himself as the owner of takeaway, and said they make fresh food on daily basis, then he started chatting and taking our interview, after getting enough information about us , he started to insult us that when we can afford why we were bothered about £1 or £2 . He kept insulting me and my family , until we put our food away and left the takeaway . We will NEVER ever go back again or recommend our friends to go there . The taste wasn’t better than Fenham one , also Fenham Pepe’s workers at least treat you...
