McCann's Rock N Ale Bar — Restaurant in Newport

Great pub. Great atmosphere. Great music. Great staff... but most importantly minimal chavness, which is quite rare it the 'port these days. Nothing against chavs, but I'd just rather them drink and socialise elsewhere and not pollute our sanctuary for rockers, metalheads and weirdos. Bit pricey these days but well worth it if it means I can have a drink without having Kanye hurt my ears and a without having a chopsy chavio in my face wanting to fight over afters on a fag.... Newport is a mess these days, bit this bar makes a trip to town...

Best rock venue in Cardiff. Lovely little pub with pool table and jukebox upstairs, and a fantastic live music room downstairs. Bar staff are always pro & friendly, and the sound guy downstairs not only knows his stuff, but the gear he has is superb. Best place to play or watch small gigs for miles! The only downside is that there is no disabled access to the room downstairs or to the toilets. Not sure if this could be remedied either as there is no space for...

Always love going to mccanns the beer is good the music is good and the staff are awesome. It was the first place I visited when I moved to newport, I was out for a walk and just about to head home then I heard slipknot being played and I had to go to check it out I took my brother there when he visited and had an amazing afternoon Thank you to the amazing management...
