Sereno Catarratto Pinot Grigio
Italy. This delicious wine has a light citrus aroma which leads to a mixture of juicy fruits and just a hint of vanilla on the palate. (V)
Luna Azul Sauvignon Blanc
Chile. Expect a burst of passion fruit and guava from this delightful sauvignon blanc. A simple lifted floral finish that is clean on the palate. (V)
Jarrah Wood Chardonnay
Australia. Fresh and well balanced, this fruit driven chardonnay has plenty of tropical fruit flavours of melons and peach with rich aromas.
Aroha Bay Sauvignon Blanc
Marlborough, new zealand. Fresh and lively with grassy notes and a lift of passion fruit with vibrant tropical fruits.
Calmel & Joseph Villa Blanche Picpoul De Pinet
France. Brilliant yellow with green reflections. Nose of acacia flowers and broom with citrus notes emerging before finishing on mint, star anise and marine, iodized notes. Very fresh and smooth in the mouth, opening on exotic fruit and finishing with a lightly lemony, mineral, salinity. (V)

Over priced and under cooked seasonal vegetables, new potatoes and eggs, and severely over cooked hash browns, tomatoes and the beef burger was ok but so greasy , now aldente vegetables I dont mind but raw warm vegetables I do, carrots were raw but Luke warm, which I get doesn't make sense but they were so hard I couldn't cut with knife and the veg actually put me off, I thought it was just mine, but the table opposite had the veg and when the waitress took their plates the veg was still on side of plate untouched so it was obviously not a one off, HOWEVER the fish pie was Amazing, homemade and very delicious. My sons new potatoes were very hard hence he never ate them just the ham and egg which in places was uncooked looked like mucus on a plate, and my other sons half a jacket was rock solid no butter just his burger and very dry beans. My husband all day brunch was ok except the tomatoes actually looked like they had came from a recycling tub, dry and cooked hours before, all was ok until he reached his undercooked egg and completely solid hash browns couldn't even bite them. Now I know these are hard times but the cafe was filling right up to the point I felt a little uncomfortable so much for social distancing. I went to ask for check and for the worst meal in a good while it cost me £40 so please shop around the other venues in woolacoombe first because you may be very disappointed as we were with the food. Can't fault waiting staff though so well done girls, it wasnt your fault hence I didn't feel the need to make a scene and make you feel bad. However if I can prevent someone else from wasting £40 then so be it! You have...

As we were down by the beach we decided to come here to eat. We heard good things about this place and wanted to try it. In my opinion if a place says cafe then maybe they should stick to that as felt this place said that but then was also trying to be a fancy resturant. Upon arrival it said wait to be seated, we stood for a few mins and not a single person came and seated us so we done this ourself. No one brought us a menu so had to get it. Someone did take our order. To be fair the starters were not bad, my son got garlic bread which was a decent size, we got a prawn cocktail which was lovely and my partner ordered another pate fish dish which he did enjoy. For mains was a different story. Kids meal was fine for kids. My partner ordered a fish meal which came covered in a cream sauce which he said was bland and tbh found having a fish dish smothered in sauce was not nice. It also never came with anything like potatoes or veg which was disappointing. I ordered a sea bass which came with lemon and garlic butter. No where on the menu did it say it was soaked in it but said it came with it. It also came with veg and potatoes which were on the side. I told the waitress due to a health condition I could not have it oily, cooked in oil yet it came out covered in lemon and garlic butter. So we refused to pay for this as they were told about the requirements but never done anything about it when we went to pay and told the person he did not seem happy but if people are coming to eat here and have an allergy or dietary need and saff were told why not...

Went here today in a large group. We found the food to be of a reasonable standard and good size portions but the experience was negative due to one member of staff.

I am a waitress so i understand how difficult a busy shift can be but our server had a terrible attitude. I would have walked out if my children hadn't been starving.

There was only one large table and another family were just finishing up. We asked the waitress if we could order and move to the large table once they had finished up as we were This server said 'no what do you want 3 members of staff rushing around after you.' Ouch!

While we were waiting for the large table my 18 month old was a bit restless (as they do) so i tried all the usual tricks to keep him occupied and for some reason he toddled over to the table just as they were starting to clean it. Like i said as a waitress I never rush the cleaning of a table - happy to wait especially if staff are busy. But this server assumed I was rushing her and made a few curt comments about not sitting at the table. We were then left waiting for quite a while to order.

It was overall a negative experience we talked about her all day. Hope management can sort this as place was...

Disappointing experience at the Captains Table. Will start off by saying the staff were lovely so this rating is not towards them. It was unfortunately the food that let us down. I got scampi and chips, the scampi was nice although could tell it was frozen - the chips were very disappointing, they were quite undercooked and had a strange taste to them not over-ally awful - just disappointing for the price I paid. My partner got steak pie, potato’s & veg and this is where we really got let down. Every item on the plate was obviously frozen. The pie was tasty but the potato’s and veg were nothing short of horrendous. They were completely unseasoned and still raw. A very bland sad excuse of a meal. I wouldn’t normally leave a bad review for somewhere when it was simply disappointing but this meal was not cheap. It cost us £46 which i think is absurd for what was obviously frozen, cheap produce. This was our most expensive meal of our trip, there are much nicer and cheaper restaurants around - save yourself some money and disappointment and go elsewhere.

Decided to stop and eat here after seeing on the sign that it was a family run restaurant and was very pleased I did. The lady that served me was very polite and pleasant and also the gentleman that helped me when I needed napkins for all my shelled prawns was also attentive. The food itself was also great. I had a seafood platter and the prawns were delicious, the calamari and whitebait was also nice and the pate was lovely also with the bread. Salad amount was perfect also and the sauces were a great idea. Deluxe Hot chocolate also made the meal. Only tiny criticism would be a finger bowl for all those shelled prawns in that delicious like sauce but very minor. Price was great value and highly recommend anyone in Woolacombe to eat here. 5 star

Found this lovely little place on our first day of our visit to Woolacombe. What a find! We went there every morning for breakfast. Beautiful 'quality' food and presented well. Quality meaty sausages and bacon, eggs to perfection. Veggie breakfast looked good too. Good price, nice pot of tea, Covid guidelines adhered to (I respect that...we're not out of the woods yet!) The whole setting was very clean, including the toilets. Staff were friendly and respectful. No rushing us or hovering. The view upstairs looked out over the beach and sea. Brilliant location. We didn't need lunch as we were still full from breakfast! Winner! Definitely worth a visit at any time of the day.
