I was in Norfolk for a family vacation with my 20 month old infant niece and my parents both of whom are senior citizens. We were a family of 4. On a Sunday night we got to Cromer beach a little late and since most of the restaurants were closed we came to Masala Twist around 8.30 pm. The restaurant was empty with only 2 guests seated at the other room. The host seemed hostile from our first inquiry for a table for 5 adults and an infant. He discussed something internally with another gentleman and had the audacity to lie to us on our faces telling that the restaurant is reserved until 9 pm. So to come back later?? They didn't even offer to have us seated. How could you not see that there was a little child with us and a lady with walking sticks? Where is the ethics and decency? The restaurant was empty yet in a chilly night they showed us the door ! We quietly left without any fuss! We have decided to report this incident to the local city hall. Being an Indian who has practically worked and lived across North America and Europe and who has savoured delicacies offered from our diverse subcontinent all across the world one thing I can clearly distinguish is " whether a restaurant is an Indian restaurant or not " ! If Sri Lanka can proudly brand their restaurants all over the world as Sri Lankan restaurants ( inspite of flavours being similar to southern Indian cuisine ) why can't Bangladeshi or Pakistani restaurants do the same ??? Why the disguise ? Be proud of where you are from and showcase your cuisine and regional flavours to the world ! Anyway the indecent treatment that we revived here was unfathomable and I will never be back here again nor will any of my friends or...
Read moreAs we arrived the waitress was outside smoking right Infront of the door. This was very surprising. As we entered the staff began drawing together a table for 6. This took about five minutes, during which time we were left to loiter, I'd have expected a menu or drinks order to be taken in this wasted time.
When we got the menu the prices stunned me. I was visiting Cromer, back in the midlands a decent curry house prices it's dishes around £10-£12. Everything was £15 and up here, plus your rice, plus your breads. Six people came to £165, to put this into context I had takeout for 12 people at home last week for £170, I realise restaurant service is more expensive but not more than double. The food was average and definitely not worth the high price tag. The portions sizes were below average.
The service was patchy, we had to ask to place our food order, then when the food arrived the waitress was unsure what dish was what. There was a very pleasant gentleman who worked here, but he was the best of the staff.
The decor was nice, well maintained and the furniture comfortable. The ladies toilet was not operational so everyone was using the men's.
I wouldn't...
Read moreWent here as a party of four, was met on arrival by a very fed up young girl, not sure if she is related to the owner but it would explain how she had a job there, we asked if they had a table for four, she said yes then stuck her nose back into her phone which is obviously more important than customers, we were then met by another waitress who showed us to our table, set us up with menus and took drink orders, this lady then spent the rest of the evening running around making sure all customers were being fed and watered, nothing was too much trouble and even though she looked stressed as she was the only one waiting tables, she remained polite and respectful and tried to explain the staff shortages, although she could not explain the lazy, disinterested girl behind the counter. So you may notice even after the initial gripe i have given 5 stars, the reason being, the food was excellent, it came out hot, it was plentiful and it was delicious, also the service we recieved from this lady was exceptional and a credit to the restaurant, i place a lot on the service you get when out eating, and...
