Blackbird — Restaurant in Northern Ireland

Miracle on Foyle Street!  So, I hired a car in Belfast, parked it at Coleraine and lost the ignition key in Derry. In search of a miracle, I rang Blackbird and the miracle happened. The key was there, behind the bar! Fortunately ,I’d been telling my grandchildren all morning that Derry was were miracles happened,if you truly believed .So there ye are. Notwithstanding my over- sentimental tendency to talk bollix and my eternal gratitude to Sarah and the bar staff at Blackbird , I have to report that our lunch time experience at Blackbird was every bit as good as we had expected from other favourable reviews. This is a great spot. Stopped in for a lovely lunch with my girlfriend. It was quiet so we were told we could sit anywhere and chose one of the big booths. Seats were very comfortable and the decor inside is lovely. Drinks were served very quickly.

Took a while to get our food order although in fairness my girlfriend was on her phone for a bit which is probably why.

I had the chicken burger and requested the tempura vegetable starter to be served alongside it. Chicken burger was nice although nothing particularly special about it. Tempura vegetables were beautiful and the sauce served with it was fantastic with a lovely spice.

Been to this place twice but today unfortunately was bad experience from entering and leaving,, bad attitude from bar staff member wearing red t shirt I asked for table for myself I got shown around restaurant and pick what table I wanted by this bar staff who clearly didn't want to deal with me got handed menu then guy just walked off,, I was left waiting over half hour before getting my order took by same guy who had asked me in cheeky manner was I ready to order yet???
