My wife and I spent last weekend in Derry.. It was a short walk from our B&B in William Street to o' donnells which we took in on Sunday evening. The locals and bar staff were great and I enjoyed the local beers as well as the Guinness! Pub atmosphere was great with live music. When the singer heard our Scott's accent, he sang "Caledonia" as a wee treat. The covid restrictions had been relaxed a bit so the folks in the Pub were out to make up for lost time and enjoy themselves. O'Donnells definitely finished off a great weekend in Derry. Wow what an experience. Came to Derry for a business trip. Stayed in City Hotel and were advised it was a great bar to visit. So went on a wednesday evening around 10pm it was dead. However after 15 -20 minutes it got packed and felt soo traditional and the staff are so welcoming and the love they show is unbelievable. Very helpful when we needed a taxi back as some were struggling to walk. The place itself is full of the real irish culture with flags of all freedom fighting countries and so much history all over the pub. If anyone visits Derry and doesnt go and have a shot of the Quiet Man they have definitely missed out on the welcoming and love Derry shows...

Great bar, always busy with a good vibe. They have live music on most if not every night. The Gunness is good and it's great craic. This bar seems to be extremely popular with tourists and locals alike. The lice music is mostly Irish traditional and it can be overly packed with people, but that is part of its character. You will find the bar to be very friendly as are the local people of derry. The bar joins onto a second bar called the Grwwdore bar.
