My new favourite cafe in Norwich 🥰 Ever since I discovered Cherry Leaf, I can't get enough of it! I have coeliac disease, and their gluten free options are AMAZING - the best I have ever EVER seen in a cafe! Gluten free wraps, toasties, sandwiches and SO many cake options. Today, I think there were about 9 or 10 different options - from cupcakes to thick slices of cake to brownies to flapjacks etc. etc. I can highly recommend the chai lattes and hot chocolates - my favourite is a gingerbread flavoured one with almond milk. They have lots of dairy free milk choices, and most of the cakes are dairy free too. I had the most incredible blueberry muffin here a few weeks ago, and today I had a blueberry and lime slice of cake. It was so moist and tasty - my friend could not tell the difference to non-gluten free cake. I can't wait to try their other bakes. I also had the hummus, roast pepper, and tomato toasted wrap which was so yummy. It comes with crisps and salad too. The cafe itself has a wonderful atmosphere - very cosy and friendly, and the staff are very warm and smiley. I love the decor and it is spacious inside. There are sofas and cosy corners to sit and chat with friends. Thank you Cherry Leaf for making such delicious gluten free food - it makes me so happy to have more than one option. You guys are the best 🩷
Update: Can highly recommend their Gluten Free toasted 'focaccia' with goats cheese, walnut, and onion Marmelade, their vegan flapjack, and their gluten free chai cake with cream cheese. INCREDIBLE 😍❤️
Update 2: their smoothies are delicious and filling, I recommend mixed berries, banana, and peanut butter 😋 sadly, their gluten free raspberry streusel cake was wayyy too sweet for my personal taste, but I love...
Read moreAs a long-time customer and as someone with Coeliac disease, I have always appreciated The Cherry Leaf Café for its thoughtful approach to gluten-free options and high standards. Unfortunately, since the change in ownership, my recent visits have not met the standard I have come to expect.
On both occasions my friend and I visited, we were disappointed with the quality of the food and the overall experience. The kitchen area appeared crowded with workers’ family members coming and going, which raised concerns for me about health and hygiene standards — particularly important for those with coeliac disease.
The quality of the food has also noticeably declined. The vegan cake we ordered was extremely dry and inedible, and the gluten-free muffins — which I used to enjoy — were half the size they used to be and covered in an overly thick layer of buttercream, lacking the freshness and balance they once had.
Most recently, we returned to give the café another chance, but unfortunately the experience confirmed our concerns. We ordered toast with “homemade jam” and were served a single slice of bread — resembling a basic supermarket loaf — with jam that did not appear to be homemade. At a price of over £4, this did not feel fair or reflective of the café’s previous quality. When we queried this, a second slice was eventually provided but served warm and without butter, and the staff response felt dismissive.
Regretfully, based on these experiences, we will not be returning. I hope you will take this feedback constructively, as The Cherry Leaf Café has long been valued by the local coeliac community, and it would be wonderful to see it return to the high standards and warm service it was...
Read moreWe've been coming to this Café for a long time and it was our most favourite place in Norwich. We have dairy and gluten intolerance and this place was always offering cakes according to our needs. Also matcha, coffee and breakfasts were amazing and very tasty.
Unfortunately, when we have visited this place again during the new management we were very disappointed. I've order matcha and I got matcha with ice. I didn't ordered the iced version and also it was disgusting. More powder, almost no milk in it and ice cubes which I didn't ask for. Cake was very gummy and not fresh for sure. All of the pastries were kept on the counter when the temperature outside was above 30 degrees. Also the customer service was not the same as with the old management. Couple of teenagers have taken our order and they were waiting for other staff to be back and serve us match and pack the cake. We have been waiting 15 minutes for matcha and for cake and there was no-one in the café apart of one customer who was sitting already at the table. Me and my partner are very disappointed and for sure won't back back again. It's very sad that this great place have been turned into the café that doesn't serve tasty...
