I've been twice already (once by myself, once with my brother) and it was lovely both times.
The folks working here are wonderful and I actually met the owner too - very down-to-earth, really nice lady. She told me about how the cafe is meant to bring a little bit of Hanoi to Nottingham and about how a lot of the decor is totally custom. It's clear to me that the quality has started at the top and trickled down to the hiring and decorating as well as the creation of the recipes/menu.
Overall, this is just a really nice place. The theming is strong, but it's still sophisticated. Everything I've tried has tasted wonderful, it's spotlessly clean, I can't find a single thing to fault the place on aside from not having Wi-Fi (you get good data signal inside though). I feel like the size and quality of the drinks is also better than chain competitors like Costa for the same kind of prices.
I think you could take 1 person here, you could take 15 people here - as few or as many as you like and you'd all be glad you came. Nice playlist at just the right low volume as well, so the music adds to the atmosphere without ever being too much.
I 110% recommend this, especially over the nearby Cafe Nero and Starbucks. It's a higher quality one-of-a-kind, instead of a samey chain cafe. I don't regret trying it and I don't think you will regret trying it either.

Read moreCàphinique recreates the famous Hanoi train street 🚋. I was immediately greeted when I entered which was nice, I’ve had the coconut coffee and egg coffee both hot and cold and they were delicious, authentic Vietnamese flavour (the hot egg coffee was not as strong as the iced in my opinion). I had the plant base banh mi, I expected pickled veg as advertised but only got cucumber and coriander… I always think “plant based” or “veggie” options have more to make up for so I expected it to be filled with a rainbow of veg, abit disappointed that it wasn’t, the flavours were still good! The banh mi also looked like it had been warmed up in a panini press. I think this should be an option for the customer, because they were plant balls, it was kind of fidly to eat - they should try and do strips instead? Other than it’s a really nice cafe! Accessible toilet with hygiene products which I...
Read moreAbsolutely thrilled to have discovered this gem! The egg coffee is rich, velvety, and perfectly balanced just like the ones I had in Hanoi. And the iced coconut coffee? Incredible. Creamy, fragrant, and so refreshing, easily one of the best I’ve had outside of Vietnam.
I’ve visited Vietnam multiple times, and I can honestly say the flavors here are spot-on authentic. My vietnamese wife couldn’t agree more. You can tell there’s real care and tradition behind every drink. The staff are warm, welcoming, and passionate about what they do, it really adds to the experience.
So excited to have a place like this in town. If you’re curious about Vietnamese coffee or already a fan, don’t wait, go support this wonderful new café. You...
