I came in to the Nottingham branch today with my brother and nieces and experienced absolutely appalling customer service (or rather lack of!!).
Firstly there was what I presume was a member of management sat on her laptop in front of the main entrance and the way she greeted us wasn’t inviting, but we didn’t take much notice as she was probably quite busy.
Then the girl (I think mid 20’s) came to us almost straight away for our drinks order and at this point seemed ok, then returned a couple of minutes later with the drinks hoping to take our food order but we had barely been given chance to look so we asked for a few more minutes. She then returned about 12 minutes later and very rudely and abruptly said “are you ready to order?”, as though we were a major inconvenience for her. After us placing our order, I didn’t actually get chance to ask for fries as she walked off so I had to call her back but then I wasn’t given any time or option to specify which fries I wanted, and after she acknowledged the last bit of the order, she stuck her thumbs up in a very flippant and childish manner. Straight after this the four of us decided we would get the service charge taken off as there really was NO customer service. Not once did I see a smile from our server or the manager.
We had to wait a while for the burger which was fine but there was no communication (at this point every little thing was annoying us). The food was nice, however my brother who has been multiple times in the past said the food has gone quite downhill and he was disappointed with the quality of the food as well as the lack of customer service for the price we paid. The only positive was that the other waitress (young woman with glasses) was smiling, polite and just simply got on with her job. I’ve been served by that young woman before and she was really good last time too and actually quite helpful!
After we had asked for the bill, my brother asked our server to remove the service charge which of course she replied with “oh, can I ask why?”. My brother said “Well the food wasn’t as great as I remember” (there was no point in telling her it was because she was so rude as she clearly had a major issue!) but then she shrugged her shoulders and said “well that’s not service is it?”. My brother then repeated himself and said “could you just take it off the bill please?” And then the server turned around, pulled a face and said “yeahhhh whatever then” in a very childish, rude and flippant manner. My brother then went over to her to pay and said that once again, she was rude when he was paying and didn’t say ‘thank you’ or ‘see you next time’ or basically anything positive, she just simply blanked him instead once he had made payment and said thank you to her.
I don’t think I’ve ever been somewhere on a quiet day where the staff are not rushed off their feet and their manager is sat close enough to hear and see everything going on and not do anything about this sort of behaviour. It is a hot day, however I am due to give birth in a few days and I seem to be feeling the temperature more than most at the moment and even I wouldn’t say the temperature was too hot and causing me to be rude to anyone. I’ve also worked in big restaurants and fast food chains, as a manager, in every weather condition so I know myself how hard it can be when it is hot and even more so when you’re the one rushed off your feet… but today was not one of those days. The server (I should have caught her name) has either got personal issues she is deciding to bring into work or she should not be working in Hooters, as a waitress or any role that requires her to communicate...
Read moreI have never been to Hooters before. I was with a couple of friends who recommended it to me. We arrived on Saturday late afternoon. There was a queue outside. It took us nearly 20 minutes to get to the front of the queue and to get to the hostess. We said we'd like a table for four. She said "have you reserved?" We said "no, we are just popping in". She said "you need a reservation". Now, I have no problem with the need for reservations. It's quite common nowadays, especially in crowded cities. But it was annoying that we had to queue for 20 minutes to find out that we need a reservation. So, I politely suggested that it would have been handy to know that a reservation was needed before customers queue for 20 minutes. I regret politely making that suggestion because the hostess then proceeded to bite my head off. She rudely and aggressively said "how am I supposed to let people at the front of the queue know". "What do you want me to do?" Etc. It was said with quite a lot of venom and with sarcasm, and with a screwed up face which suggested I was an idiot and a pain in the backside. I didn't suggest she personally left her position to notify would-be customers, rather they might consider just having a system in place (a sign perhaps? Maybe the bouncer could have periodically notified customers in the queue)? From what I'm writing, it probably sounds petty, but if you were there you'd know what I mean. She seemed personally offended and was very aggressive in her manner when I dared to make a suggestion that would have helped people not have to queue up for no reason. If her argumentative attitude is representative of the rest of the staff, I won't ever be visiting Hooters, even with a...
Read moreThis is the worst experience I've had in hooters. Normally I know I'm getting standard food but would pay extra for the service and atmosphere, which includes banter or general brief conversation with the waitress. Tonight I had booked for a 7pm sitting and it was a lot quieter than what it has been in the past. Tonight however there were no menus at our table the waitress didn't even come to our table for 15 minutes and we only got a menu as I called across to the hostess sitting another table. Others were seated after us but the waitress took their order before approaching our table. To wait for 15 mins for a drink order and to be seen after others who had arrived after me is unacceptable, so we made our food order at the same time. We ordered a simple drinks order and a very standard main with no starters. I ordered 20 wing meal and asked for curley chips. The two others in my party ordered similar but a 10 wing option. Two of our wing order came however the waitress had only put 10 wings instead of 20. Thinking our chips were just around the corner we started for 2/3 mins later the third wing order to arrive no explanation where the chips were. We waited another 13 mins for the chips to arrive, one of our party had finished his 10 wings in the meantime. It was a really terrible experience and if the food had been inedible I would have walked out without paying the waitress did not get a tip and I feel bad but she was the worst I had come across in my life. If I could give 0 star service I would the food is all which saved this. We are a very easy party to cater for and normally order more drinks and would normally tip but this was that bad I cannot explain in a more...
