I’m new to Nottingham and despite seeing all the bad reviews, my friend said to give this place a chance. I regret it deeply. We placed our order at 8:25pm. By 9:42pm, nothing had arrived, so my friend called. They had the audacity to say they never received the order, even though it was placed through their own website. At 9:54pm, the lady suddenly “found” the order but claimed Ayamase wasn’t available (still showing as available online, by the way). We settled for two “special ofada sauces,” which turned out to be nothing but watery pepper. The food finally crawled in at 10:22pm, nearly two hours later. And let me tell you, absolutely not worth the wait. The stew was so watery that if there had been fish in it, it would have been swimming laps. The meat was so tough it felt like the goat hadn’t even died properly. As if that wasn’t insulting enough, they threw in a couple of sad-looking buns and a single egg roll as some sort of “apology.” No phone apology, no accountability, just vibes. To top it off, they didn’t even bother to include cutlery, like we were supposed to drink their pepper water with our bare hands. This place is a complete joke. The service is careless, the food is trash, and the whole experience was nothing but frustration. Save yourself the disappointment and do not...
Read moreI went to Abike’s kitchen earlier today with my sister and it was such a great experience.
Initially I couldn’t locate the restaurant so I called and the service I received was great, we were given clear and very helpful instructions on how to get there. When we arrived the owners were very welcoming and helped us with a recommendation of what to get. The food was presented very nicely and didn’t take that long to come out.
The food itself was honestly 10/10. I cannot fault it. It was so enjoyable and you are given really great portions.
Suya = 10/10! Jollof rice = right level of spicy and flavour. Village rice = again so nice! I cannot fault it. Beef stew = generous portion and tasted so good!
Me and my sister will be back again for sure and I will be brining my friends and letting them know about the good food as I cannot gatekeep such good food. Best Nigerian food I’ve tasted in the...
Read moreOrdered bitterleaf soup, I should have remembered it's a yoruba kitchen and they won't be good at cooking bitterleaf soup like the ibos. How do you make bitterleaf soup with fresh pepper instead of Cameroon pepper? No ogiri, no cocoyam used, I don't know what leaf was used but obviously not bitterleaf. Soup content didn't match the description on the website. I got 4 pieces of strange sour beefs instead of the assorted I ordered. There was no stockfish in it as described on the site. Soup is watery and bland. Garri is too soft gush. Too pricey @£20 for a plate yet tacky. Nigerian restaurants should do better and keep it honest. We're all here to hustle. It's painful when your hard earned money becomes a waste on what you thought could make you a lil happy. Make Una try dey get conscience abeg. Managed to eat 2 meats and threw the remaining trash, make my belle no go...
