Lillie Langtry's — Restaurant in Nottingham

Welcomed by asking to disinfect our hand before touching a pen to write down more details than what they need, but then all the friendly staff were happily talking on top of customers' drinks without covering their mouth and nose (pens are famous to carry viruses after all, it doesn't spread with droplets). No social distance whatsoever. The small pub was packed as a normal Saturday before March. Clearly money comes before customers and staff's health.. good luck

I had chicken & mushroom pie with mash, peas, gravy, and half a Guinness for £17.66p. Pieminister provides the limited lunchtime menu with half a dozen pie options to choose from. The pub atmosphere was great in this cosy city pub. The staff were friendly and accommodating, cutlery and serviettes were bought to the table. The food arrived quickly, piping hot and well presented. The food was tasty and filling with the gravy served separately in a gravy boat. A staff member even passed by to ask if everything is ok. If you're visiting Nottingham and enjoy being amongst local folk this is a great choice.

The only slightly negative thing was the pie pastry base was hard and a little chewy. Like the filling had soaked into the pastry then the base dried out a little on a hot surface.

Handily situated near restaurants and the Theatre , Lily’s is an oldish pub with a welcoming feel as you walk in. A few different ideas and styles are evident in terms of decor and furnishings giving the impression that dear Lily is trying to keep everyone happy. There are a broad range of good quality real ales and a couple of alcohol free options for boring people like me. TVs to keep sports fans happy and usually a friendly chat to be had with locals at the bar. Not a huge pub and our only criticism is that a live music duo and announcements of Pub Quiz answers were ear splittingly loud when stood at the bar with some very amusing and unique pronounciations of the answers that was definitely great comedy value.
