Yamas: The House of Abundance and Gratitude

Stepping into Yamas is like entering a space where hospitality and flavour blend harmoniously, offering a taste of the Mediterranean right in the heart of the city. The warm and inviting exterior, with its striking red facade and welcoming entrance, sets the tone for what lies within—a place of comfort, rich flavours, and a homely atmosphere.

Inside, the restaurant boasts a well-thought-out interior, combining modern elegance with rustic charm. The dining area is spacious yet intimate, featuring earthy tones, stylish lighting, and neatly arranged tables adorned with vibrant plates that add a delightful splash of colour. The carefully selected decor, including Mediterranean-inspired artwork and subtle ambient lighting, creates an atmosphere that is both relaxing and uplifting.

The attention to detail extends to the dining experience itself. Each table is thoughtfully set with quality cutlery, neatly folded napkins, and bottles of olive oil, enhancing the anticipation of the meal to come. The staff exudes warmth and attentiveness, ensuring every guest feels valued and cared for.

Whether you’re visiting for a casual meal with friends or a special celebration, Yamas lives up to its name—a place that radiates abundance, both in the generous portions and the heartfelt service. The atmosphere encourages gratitude, inviting diners to savour every moment and every bite.

In conclusion, Yamas is more than just a restaurant; it is a haven for those who appreciate fine Mediterranean cuisine served with genuine hospitality. Whether you’re seeking a delicious meal, a cosy ambience, or simply a place to unwind and connect, Yamas offers it all with an undeniable...

We are/were regulars to Yamas after going the Cyprus many times and wanting to enjoy the Greek food back home too. The food its-self is fantastic and cannot not say anything bad about it but… the prices are well over the top. We have been going for years now and sent many people there to taste the food but recently a huge increase in costs have made once an enjoyable meal, now too much compared to other restaurants with larger plates and just as tasty food for much less.

I have also deducted stars from my review due to the grumpy and arrogant staff (not all of them). Mainly it’s the women who have such an attitude for some reason! We last went as 3 couples and one of us were not sure what came with the dish so she asked, only to be met with a sharp and sarcastic answer. After ordering, she then came with the drinks and was slamming them to the table in a huff and didn’t even try to match who’s drunk was for who. After the meal we wanted to workout the bill into what each couple had which always takes a few extra minutes. The lady came over 3 times within a few moments of us getting the bill and each time we asked her to give us abit more time, she would go off in a huff and eyes rolled but then talking to her other waitress in their language while blatantly looking over at us. Also watch out for the 10% service charge they work into the price…it’s not bloody America and they definitely...

I booked this for 4 of us with a months notice to the owner! Upon entering the restaurant we were told " you are upstairs " no welcome from the owner/manager! Once upstairs we looked across to two long tables set up for 2 parties. Within 20 minutes of us sitting down they arrived - 20 under 25s on one side and 12 under 30s on the other table. The noise level as they were all competing with each other was deafening! I felt even more sorry for a couple who had come out for a romantic meal who couldn't even talk to each other above the noise. The food once it arrived came out at a quick rate of knots, it wasn't exactly fantastic as Id been told to expect, it was mediocre. We had ordered a separate side order which never arrived and the waitress upon giving us our bill said she had knocked off the side order as a gesture of good will due to the volume of noise we had had to put up with. I thanked her but said wed never had it so no gesture at all! She just shrugged at me! All in all with a very tired looking restaurant , poor food and extremely poor thought process ( as several tables downstairs we could of sat at and actually enjoyed our conversation ) I will not be recommending this nor ever...

This is not the first time we've been to this restaurant and it won't be the last, we're already booked in for lunch in a month's time. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are looked after impeccably. Even though we were in on the afternoon of New Year's eve there was no feeling of being rushed. We were in there for two and a half hours and everything happened in that typically laid back, Greek style where nothing was too much bother. There were four of us and we ordered the Christmas meze for four. Quite a few things on the menu are already gluten free which suited one of our party but when the staff were told, the meze was changed to suit their needs without needing to ask. The food itself is amazing, a large variety of dishes over four or five courses to give you an authentic selection of delicious Greek cuisine. There were a couple of things that I haven't tried before like the soutzoukakia but I will definitely have them again. All in all it was a cracking afternoon, if you want to experience a traditional meze for a reasonable price then this is the place to come. Sorry about the stereotypical picture but you have to have a Mythos with your meal! Yamas.

A Christmas dinner needing more staff and options. As part of a large party we had a good time but some improvements could be made. I was a veg candidate as the meat is not halal. We were a large group - a challenge for any restaurant. The starters were quite delayed and part of the challenge I feel was the amount of staff as we were upstairs with only two staff for over 40 people. This I feel was the main issue as the two we had were clearly working hard. With a mix of veg and meat customers the meat starters were eaten before the vegetarians were served and the establishments penchant for allocating portions confusing. The flavour was nice with a lovely garlic beetroot Meze and houmous. The first line starters were OK with a single rock shaped felafal and herby patty per person. The main veg was an interesting dickensian style pea pudding and pasty. The baklava was delicious but could be improved by not being served fridge cold-even if with ice cream l. The food was tasty and by the end of it I was full but I wouldn't eat here again unless I was a meat eater.

Have been planning to visit Yamas for ages but never got around to it, glad we did! We went for the lunch tapas menu, £8.95 each I think. The menu is compact but covers a range that will suit most tastes. We tried the pork belly, chorizo, chicken, lamb in vine leaves, hummous, and patatas bravas. Honestly the hummous was not great, too coarse for me and the chicken was quite dry actually, the pork belly in breadcrumbs was an interesting choice but it didn't work for me. The chorizo was amazing, the lamb in vine leaves was amazing and the patatas bravas were, sadly cold. It was ok it but I think the food was over rated (not necessarily over priced, I think it was good value), the service was excellent and I would go again if asked but I think I tried everything off the menu that I wanted so I probably wouldn't choose to go again.
