I'm saddened to share this review, but my latest salon experience has left me no choice.
Two weeks ago, I was thoroughly disappointed with my nail treatment - the acrylic application was thick and heavy, with rough edges and an uneven surface. Despite this being the second time they've made a similar mistake, I decided to give them another chance to get it right. However, today's visit was a step too far.
The owner's wife approached me in a dismissive and disrespectful manner, refusing to acknowledge the issues with my nails and implying I was overreacting. As a regular, paying customer who deserves respect, especially from someone young enough to be my daughter, I'm extremely disappointed. Their failure to take responsibility and provide a satisfactory service has led me to express my frustration.
Under the "Customer Rights Act 2015" I could have requested my money back, BUT instead I waited until my nail technician LUCAS/Manager came back of his holiday for him to do the RIGHT THING! ( i would have been happy with a redo at no extra cost instead of demanding my money back!)...but instead they disregarded my complaint, changed the narrative to suit themseleved and charged me to redo my nails today!
SHAME ON YOU! 😒
CONSUMER RIGHTS ACT 2015
If you’ve paid for a service at a nail bar in the UK and the work is poor (e.g. messy application, uneven shaping, polish chipping straight away, damage to natural nails), your rights are covered mainly under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Here’s the key points for you:
Service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill
By law, the nail bar must perform the treatment to the standard that a reasonably competent technician would provide.
If the work is sloppy, rushed, or clearly below professional standards, they’ve breached this duty.
What you can ask for
Repeat performance – You can ask them to redo the work at no extra cost, within a reasonable time, and without causing you significant inconvenience.
Price reduction – If you don’t want it redone (or they refuse / fail to fix it), you’re entitled to ask for some or all of your money back, depending on how bad the service was.
If damage is caused
If their work actually damages your nails, skin, or causes an injury (cuts, infections, burns from products), you may also have a right to claim compensation for the damage. That can go beyond a refund.
Practical steps
Complain quickly – You can go back to the salon and calmly explain what’s wrong.
Evidence – Take photos straight away in case it gets worse.
Keep receipts – Or proof of booking/payment (bank statement is fine).
( Humm... Is that the reason NO receipt are given i wonder? 🤔
Ask for a manager – If the staff refuse to put it right.
Escalation if they won’t play fair
Write a short complaint letter/email (keep it factual). ( OR Review like I did! )
If you paid by card, you may be able to use chargeback (for debit cards) or Section 75 (for credit cards over £100). ( Hummm...CASH PAYMENTS ONLY! 🤔 )
If the service caused physical harm, you could pursue it through small claims or even negligence law.
👉 BOTTOM LINE:
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. I don’t believe that that treatment i had 2 weeks ago meet those standards and TODAY instead of apologising for the upset caused and redo my nails without no extra charge YOU decided to think about yourself and the reputation of your business and disregard my legitimate issue with your service and then charge me for something you know shouldnt have been charged for!... Do you know how incredibly wrong that was of you to do that, and how i must have felt sitting there!? You mentioned "We try" as I was trying to explain my issue to you, unfortunately and i wish it wasnt that way but WE ALL have our problems and struggles in life, each and everyone of us and we are ALL trying very hard. That being said, i believe its highly immoral to line your own pockets at the...
Read moreWhen I first started going to this salon about a year ago, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service (offering you a drink, the acrylics stayed on the nails without chipping for long etc). I had been going there every 6 weeks for acrylic infills. Four appointments ago, I was told that I shouldn't do infills but full acrylics. When I said I'd been having infills every time I came, every 6 weeks, I was told 'OK, but they won't last long' (guess what, they lasted as long as every other time). Three appointments ago, I was told the same thing, this time by one of the old men, who was so upset by my infills appointment that he dropped my hands, as if he was appalled and didn't want to work on them. He started speaking in Vietnamese and seemed angry. When I asked if there was a problem, he said 'no problem'. Two appointments ago, I had no issues (this time I went for a full set, as I had left a probably 8-10 weeks gap since last time) . Last time I went to the salon, last week, I had an appointment for 6pm. I was asked to wait, and after 15mins I was asked to sit at a station. I waited 15 more minutes before they started working on my nails. When the acrylic part finished, I was told to wait a bit for someone else to put on the regular nail polish. I waited a further 15mins for the owner to come and do the nail polish. No apology for the delay received at any pointy, but only excuse that the guy who did my nails would put a thick layer of nail polish and I would have to wait 1 hour to dry, whereas the owner would put thin layers that would dry quickly. Zero customer service and very bad experience with 45mins delay altogether and no apology. Go somewhere else, preferably where the staff has adjusted to the British culture and know how to treat clients.
Edit after Studio Eight's response: Last time I had infills done,it had been almost 6 weeks since my previous visit and not 8-10 weeks - check your system. The previous booking before the last was on 20th of January, and the last one was on 29th of February. Also, my booking was for acrylic overlay, not infills, to avoid having another upset member of staff, but when the technician started with me he looked at my nails and said 'what are you having? Infills?', to which I replied 'yes', since he thought my nails were good enough for infills and not full overlay. Finally, I paid £13, because I used your £5 off voucher.
Funny that you use inaccurate information to defend your bad service, but at the same time offering me £10 off my next visit in a private text due to my 1...
Read moreId never go here again. Unfortunately my experience wasn't a great one. First time I've had my nails done and was recommended BIAB with extensions. My nail was wonky which I mentioned to the tech, she didn't do a great deal about it. My extensions were glued to my skin, thankfully that came u stuck after a couple of days. The application was sloppy (I didn't realise at the time as I say this was my first time and I trusted the techs on what they were doing). After speaking to many nail techs and people who have their nails done regularly, they were quite disgusted in the nails. Flooding, big gap between cuticles and applied nails they look outgrown. Day 2 and my nail cracked and has now more than likely damaged my natural nail. This was due to over filing,.you can see that top and bad application where it's cracked. Edges are flooded and raggedy, that are lifting, not smooth at all. I wish I clocked all this at my appointment, but I'm a newbie and clueless. The apex is nowhere near high enough to support the length. They are lifting after just days. The only good thing is the design which is super pretty. I messaged and offered to fix any nails they deemed necessary. However I cannot easily get to the salon as it's out of town, I do not have 2 spare hours to travel, and another 2 hours to sit in a salon with techs that I now do not trust to do a good job so unfortunately cannot get them "fixed" so I now have to pay more money local to get them taken off and replaced properly. £65 down the drain for nails that didn't last 2 days and are lifting badly. I didn't want to leave a bad review but I've lost £65 and a bad experience on my first nails. The one star is for the lady who did my design, because she did a fab job on that. Still even without all the issues they were never worth £65! I go local now and pay half that price for...
