Re-tried yesterday (26/09/18). Much better experience. Everything was lovely no pool of oil. My only complaint would be that for £2.70 I'd of liked to of had 4 onion bhajis in the starter rather than 3 as they were very small and two of us were sharing. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were extremely courteous when my partner collected our order. I'll now give a 5 review as the onion bhajis were delicious so I'll forgive the small portion.
(previous review 24/06/18 ) Tried a curry from here whilst on holiday. The food was beautiful in the end, really flavoursome. When we got our food out at the caravan though we were faced with quite a deep pool of excess oil on the top of both curries. At first we were less than impressed, it didn't look appetizing at all BUT once we'd poured the oil off and given it a good stir we really enjoyed it. So although it didn't look great at first all wasn't lost. Would probably eat from here again but request that no excess oil is to be left floating on top of the curries just to be on the safe side. This could of been a one off but we wouldn't know as we're not local so would have to mention it if we were to return to ensure that it didn't happen to us again. I'll rate it 4* based on the experience once we'd rectified...

So, Masala in Perranporth, what a cracking little spot. If you’re after proper tasty Indian food with flavours that pop, this is your place. Honestly, the food was delicious, so many flavours dancing around, I nearly started clapping and dancing, but I wouldn’t have minded just a touch more spice to really bring the heat. Nothing wrong with a little sweat-on-the-forehead moment, eh boys and girls?
Now, let’s talk about the staff, because they absolutely deserve a medal. Friendly, quick, and clearly running on equal parts efficiency and charm. Even when they had a little hiccup with the order, they handled it brilliantly.
We’d left with our takeaway and hadn’t even got home before they clocked it, called us and sorted it. We popped back (all of a mile and a half), and they handed us the correct meal, told us to keep the extra one and handed over a couple of bottles of Cobra for the trouble. That’s what I call service and a bonus dinner and beer on top!
So yeah, great place, great people, tasty food… just maybe turn that spice dial up a notch next time and we’re golden. Thanks for looking after us, and for making me feel like a king walking out with double dinner...
Read moreBeen here many times over the years and has always been good but this time not so good. I ordered 3 poppadoms and 3 cartons of onions, which the onions were nothing like what we have at home, ordered 2 chapattis that looked more like a wholemeal wrap, horrible thing it was, they went in the bin. Then ordered 2 chicken tikka madras with rice, I looked at the bill when I got back to the caravan as we were on holiday, to find they'd charged 1 chicken curry £7-50 + tikka £1, the next curry which was the same was £8-50 + tikka, 2 different prices and the curry was like water and nothing like a madras, I know they were busy with takeaways as there was nobody in the restaurant and the phone never stopped ringing, I was told it would be 40 mins, but arrived in 25 mins, cost was just over £32 which I don't think it was the best value for the money, will definitely be go to the Maharaja in Newquay next time as always been...
