Only good thing is the £2.50 doubles. Ive read a lot of reviews calling the staff bullies and from my personal experience this is true. I have been coming here since 2021 and the environment has become unsettling and unsafe. Speaking to other frequent Thursday JSV goers, as well as bartenders from other Plymouth bars, this is a problem that a lot of people experience with the JSV staff. They want you to take up serious issues with them personally but when you do you are carelessly dismissed, they only care about business and not about the customers. These issues are not petty either, misogyny is rampant behind the bar. They will jump to defend their staff before understanding the severity of an issue. The main complaint I have is with their tendency to hire horrendously misogynistic and abusive staff members who will then gang up on customers when this is called out. Read moreA friend of mine (27 years old) didn't have her ID with her, so staff took her (full) pint of beer away from her. My friend left the bar to get her ID. Getting back to the bar with her ID some 10 minutes later, she asked to have the pint back. The staff didn't want to either give her back the pint, or to reimburse it, and wanted to charge her for a new one. EDIT: The manager got back to us and agreed that it was not admissible, and even offered free drinks. I am not sure we will claim them, but at least this shows a genuine attention to fixing wrongs.
