The menu used to be cheap and cheerful. Massive portions of bland food at student prices. Not any more. It's a great menu, still studenty in that its comfort food but it's all done really nice.*Amended below. The portions are still very generous. Yes you still get your 2 pint milkshakes and your tankard of tea. But there is more quality there now.
The venue itself is really nice and cosy too. The seating is nice with big soft booth type tables for groups and there are even wood burners for heating which adds to the warm feel.
The staff too always seem friendly and happy to help. They can be busy at times as it's just so popular. I have had a few things missing the few times I've been there recently but this has been sorted without much hassle.
Picture below are some "pizza fries" cheesy chips with loads of toppings. Chicken strips and some sort of burger. It was my mate's burger and I didn't think to ask. A kinderella shake. Sooo good.

I have dropped my score to a 3 star after coming here multiple times recently. I have had some shocking food. Whilst the atmosphere is still nice and cosy and the staff still seem friendly, the poor food quality means I will stop going.
As an example, I ordered a burger one day and this came in a rock hard stale bun. So this was either frozen and then defrosted and they didn't notice or they noticed it was stale and thought toasting it would hide the staleness, which of course it did not. Another gripe is the menu and the fact the burger comes with chips but doesn't say and so I ordered some extra chips for another fiver or so. A small gripe perhaps but the menu has changed so that there are a bunch of options for chips such as the pizza fries or these saucy ones I ordered. This isn't too big of a deal other than it seems to be something people do often by mistake and the staff never seem to mention it to anyone ordering. - In there defence when I complained about the burger and said I wasn't eating it, I asked for a cup of tea and a desert instead, they obliged. That was just very lacklustre too. But they did try and you have to appreciate that.
My main complaint here, would be the inconsistency. One mistake or missing thing wouldn't be an issue. But we have been here enough recently to realise even if you order the same thing two days in a row, you simply don't know what you'll get. Even if you are sat at the same table and order the same thing, it may come out looking different and your left wondering if you have got the right order. If they don't have stuff on , it may be left out or substituted. If its stale, you may be served it anyway. It is just not a...
Read moreI have lost count of how many times I have been to Caffiene Club now! Every time I would visit my partner in Plymouth whilst she was at uni we would go there for a lovely meal! The prices are very affordable, the portions are defiantly generous, and the taste is stunning. The menu is full of the most amazing food and drinks. The cocktail list is amazing and it is always a difficult choice on what to choose. All of the burgers I have had have been so tasty, with a large side of sweet potato fries. Just the main meal will be enough to fill you up! Even the sides come with generous portions, you will never leave hungry from here! I have tried a good few of their cocktails and I have to say they are absolutely incredible, incredible taste, not too bitter and horrid with too much alcohol, the perfect mix! I once ordered the two pint shake (cookie monster) and thought, yeah I can finish this... I did finish it but my god it filled me up so when I got my burger I couldn't finish it, I barely made a dent! The Caffiene Club is the jack of all trades, it has so many things that make it special, like their "challenging" big foods like monster burgers, dogs. It's like a Man Vs Food episode and I love it! You get that huge sense of accomplishment when you finish it! The atmosphere is amazing, good music, the decor up and downstairs is amazing. Amazing place to sit, socialize, enjoy some great food. Extremely helpful staff, we are always served by this lovely and ever so happy guy with very tall spikey hair, he is always the nicest, always recognises us and is very chatty, really helpful and makes you feel very welcome. Only down side (I will not consider this their problem so I will definitely not lower the rating) you can get some very very loud and rude students, making a tonne of noise. I highly recommend Caffiene Club! Very generous portions, extremely affordable, open 24 hours, amazing stuff and an...
Read moreTL;DR: Unclean, uninspiring cheap frozen food, with distinctly average milkshakes and absent service. Good chance i had food poisoning as a result of the meal.
It has been a while since I've regretted eating out. We were drawn in by the quirky decor, and although it wasn't particularly clean (and my wife's seat was inexplicably damp), we decided to give it a chance. The setup was rather odd, as I first asked about food at the left side bar, and was told food and soft drink orders were taken at the right. At this point we hadn't even had a menu. I made it over to the right one, and was given a couple of worn and damp menus which had a massive amount of choice (often a concerning sign).
We ordered a hot dog, bean burger, drinks and milkshakes. The drinks were handed over on a flimsy tray which I had to bring back to the table, and we waited for the food, which took a decent amount of time given how empty the place was. Frozen chips, an uninspiring likely frozen burger and an average hotdog. It was supposed to be a Jack Daniels BBQ hot dog, but it was artfully dotted with a pitiful amount of sauce, and came with over-done bacon. Some time into our disappointing meal we started to wonder where the milkshakes were. I went up to the till to ask, and despite it being right beside where the milkshakes were made, the order wasn't passed over.
So after we'd finished eating the milkshakes finally arrived and they were...milky. They had been blended so much there were no distinct flavours. It's the first time I've failed to finish a milkshake.
I generally do try to find the silver lining in life, and this place was cheap, but there is better cheap food out there, in Plymouth market for example. Quirky decor, but disappointing on almost every...
