Mixed review; and spending £42, I felt overcharged for the experience I got. On entering my booking was not in the system. I was seated upstairs at an awful table. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, however I was seated in the door way, against a wall, back to the restaurant and facing the stairwell/till. I felt really unwelcome. I understand single diners are a pain, but nicer seats were available. The two severs pulled it back massively however, and were polite and attentive, proving great service and recommendations. I had the Crispy Pork Belly Bites to start, these were pretty nice, I enjoyed them, but wouldn’t order them again. For my main, I ordered the Giant King Prawn Pad Thai. Though the pad Thai didn’t quite take me back to the streets of Bangkok, I did enjoy it, and the king prawns were outstanding. I would like the recommend giving a knife with this dish as it was difficult to get the meat from the prawns. I also noticed there was tofu, and fewer prawn I the noodles than expected. Overall, a strong dish though. For drinks, I was happy to see Singha was on the menu. The drinks menu is very good, and not too badly priced. You could enjoy drinks for hours in there. Overall the restaurant and food look very good. I believe I had an unfortunate experience, and may go back and revise this review; however, as it stands, I paid £42, and did not enjoy my meal, and a big part of that was where I was sat.

"This place is incredible. Such a warm, inviting atmosphere. The food is absolutely incredible and at an affordable price. I can't wait to return here." The above paragraph is what I posted last year. This evening I returned. It's not often I get to eat out because we have children. I was so disappointed. We had to get a refund on 2 of our 4 tapas dishes. Mainly because they were tasteless, fatty, covered in grease and has more batter on than the bottom of a chip shop chip fat fryer! The other 2 dishes I paid for weren't great. The chicken was obviously brought in frozen and reheated on the day. The duck was average. The portion sizes seem bigger but quantity does not equal quality. When I wrote my first paragraph I was truly blown away with the place. It was incredible. I left today feeling cheated out of my money and my pregnant wife felt sick. Not sure that's what a date night is supposed to be. To finish, this tripe was so overpriced I really think I was robbed. I've had better quality food at a wetherspoons!! Unfortunately, whatever has happened over the past 6 months, hasn't done the place any favours. It's killed it. It's now just an overpriced cash cow dishing out less than average, reheated tripe. At least wetherspoons charge you for what their food is worth. Last year, I'd be forcing you to go. Now I'd be begging you to avoid. Shame.

5 years ago this was the only Thai spot in town, on returning to Portsmouth post graduation I unfortunately cannot say the same. As I walked in I heard Spanish music playing that seemed a bit odd being in a Thai restaurant and like someone forgot they were connected to the speakers. I did not let this bother me and was still excited for a tantalizing Thai experience. Unfortunately this did not happen. The rib starters looked like the animal was intermittent fasting prior to being served - there was absolutely zero meat on them. The pork main was over cooked and chewy. The beer was flat. The waiter even forgot to prepare a mocktail. After scrapping off whatever meat was on the ribs and bitter taste of pork I was still abit peckish. I requested the waiter to make Thai drunken noodles which he didn't know how to make... I'm not sure if we had an off day or the chef was actually drunk. The bao buns tasted so chewy and fel like it's just come out of microwave. There was hardly any sauce or salad in them. We ended up ordering the standard pad Thai noodles after this experience thinking least the noodles might be authentic, but as disappointed we were on the other dishes we regretted getting the noodles, they were tasteless, there was no flavor just simply tasted sweet and chewy.

Terrible customer service towards delivery drivers.

I work as a delivery driver, and often visit Koh Thai for collections of food to deliver.

A few weeks back I visited the restaurant, and I waited at the front to get greeted my a member of staff, instead, when the staff member arrived, they greeted the customers who came in after me and completely ignored me. After waiting 5 minutes, I approached the staff member, and asked if the food was ready, I was then immediately given the food from the storage area, to find it was ready all along.

Tonight when I visited the restaurant to collect food, I asked how long the order would be, and was told it would be checked, only to wait 10 minutes and not hear anything back. I made my way to the back of the restaurant to make myself visible, and asked a different staff member, who said they’d check downstairs. The same staff member, after going downstairs, walked past me 3 times, without informing me where the order was, as he walked past and ignored me on the third occasion, I asked where the order was, and was told he didn’t know when the food would be ready. All other staff members ignored me whilst I was waiting.

I don’t feel it’s unreasonable, for delivery drivers to be greeted upon arrival, and informed a rough estimate of how long the food will take, usually it seems like...
