Where do i start this review? I have given 100% positive comments and this is based on muliple factors. I love local businesses they are the bedrock of a town or city and should be celebrated. Last night was a special occasion our first date night in 18 years but also our daughters fist night out in Preston. So we wanted to be close by and to pick her up. My other half picked the venue because of the menu, i'm gluten intolerant and my reactions are quite reactive, so food quality and attention to detail is paramount. first impressions count and upon entering the venue was greated by a sight for sore eyes, security on the door well dressed and chatty, we were made to feel welcome. The decor is beautiful with the eating portion and bar area seperated. The music was spot on in content and also sound level. Micheal Jackson PYT as we were shown to our seat. Comfy and were able to chat. we were served and given a great menu and the host explained that the dishes were small and so we could combine to make a tapas type meal. The gluten choice was extensive, the presention was impeccable the taste was out of this world
i was given an allegen chart and this single step made me feel that i was being taken serious. The venues approach to food security was first class. The corn ribs and the meat balls please try as they are just a food delight. As i said the music choice was impeccable and our conversations flowed. Our night out was completed with a chefs take on Eton mess and i have to admit if this was the only thing i could eat this would have still created a memorable meal. Our host came over, chatted and were made to feel comfortable and valued, they spent time chatting, the chef was congratulated and we asked for our thanks to be relayed back,
The result of the whole experience was beyond our own expectations and my partner was pleased she had choosen a place to celebrate our night out and end the night on a complete high. So to all the team at 1842 so many thanks for making our date night such a...
Read moreIf I could have given 0 stars I would have! Ok, the only plus is that the food was good. My friend booked us a table of 8 and the premises took an £80 deposit, if we hadn't paid the deposit we would have got up and left as the service was atrocious. We were sat at a table that was reserved for us but it had no cutlery or condiments. After sitting some 40 mins we had to then go and request that a waitress was sent to our table to take our drinks and food order it was then a further 50 mins and several enquiries as to where the drinks were before it arrived some 90 minutes after we entered.
Once the food arrived, we had to request cutlery and salt & pepper, utter failure of service, we asked to see a manager and we are still waiting. One of our group received his starter as we had already started tucking in to our main course, his main course eventually arrived when we were well finished eating and going over the bill (which was wrong)
Service was atrocious and if they hadn't got the £80 deposit from us we would have walked. The place is lovely, the food was good but the full dining experience was a bad one some £260 later. WE...
Read moreThe deco and ambiance is good and drinks prices are ok. It was busy when i went in with friends and it was difficult to get served, a good 10/15 mins minimum, which is unacceptable, they must get this right or people will stop coming. Been in before and they had live music on that time, need to do more of that. We then went upstairs to the private venue, great space and some very good decor.. Problem was the bar area is situated in a very small space to try and get to the dancefloor. In hindsight the private booths should have been at the far end and the dancefloor brought forward.. Trust me getting to the dancefloor was not easy, especially when its busy. In other venues private booths are situated on the ba k walls ( Baluga's is an example) definite design flaw but it is what it is. Also had a red bull at £2.80 is that reasonable, maybe but had cheaper in town. Had some other drinks as well but overpriced. Have to be careful because people are not stupid and...
