German Doner Kebab (GDK) — Restaurant in Preston

A friend of mine was banging on about this place for a month, telling me how amazing the food was so I finally bothered to go. The staff member that served me was friendly and helpful and the food was quite good. Not superb, but definitely one of the better kebabs you can get in the Preston area. Also the actual restaurant itself was vibrant and very clean, as was the kitchen that you can see into fully. That, unfortunately is where the praise ends.

I waited 45 minutes for my takeaway order. Even on a busy Saturday night, that's just not good enough for takeaway food. While waiting I witnessed the staff both arguing amongst themselves and laughing and joking around. I'm not one of these killjoys who complains about staff enjoying themselves but when the orders are stacking up (they were visible on the monitor behind the counter) I would expect more of an effort to clear through the backlog. There didn't seem to be anybody managing anything and as a result, I and many others were waiting an excessive amount of time for food.

I will still recommend the food but I would simply say to either order in advance or go on a quieter night. 45 minutes wait for 3 donner kebabs and some fries isn't...

Appalling service. Ordered the boss box, specifically with no salad and when my order arrived, it had salad which I pointed out to the young lad so he went back to counter with a grunt and spoke to his colleagues quite loudly about how it was wrong. The girl that served me then came over to my table to say I didn’t ask for no salad (I specifically did as I don’t like salad in a kebab) and she said she was sure I didn’t and made me feel like I was not being honest. After a scowl, she returned behind the counter and again loudly discussed how I was wrong, whilst pointing at me and giving me dirty looks.

5 mins later, the kebab arrived but without the cheese sauce I asked to be included.

Perhaps if your team engaged with the customer properly and listened when taking an order than these things would not happen. I wouldn’t mind but I was one of three people in the whole place!

The food itself was also a huge let down. Very greasy and the bread did not taste fresh. Not even a resemblance of a true Berlin Döner having tried a few in Berlin and Germany itself.

Avoid this place as for just under £16, it’s beyond poor and the service...

I’ve given this place more than one chance, but for the last two orders they’ve completely messed things up. Last time, they missed two items from my order. When I called, they refused to send the missing items, saying they would give me “credit for next time” — but how does that even work if you’re ordering through a delivery app? After a long day, you look forward to your meal, spend your money, and then get told “sorry, nothing we can do.”

This time, I ordered the OG box and they forgot my drink. The driver said, “This is all they gave me.” I rang the restaurant, and they insisted they gave it to the driver and that I should request a refund from Uber. I don’t want to chase refunds — I just wanted my drink that I paid for.

It’s extremely disappointing to have this happen twice in a row, and the lack of accountability from the restaurant makes it worse. I won’t be ordering again unless they seriously improve their service and double-check orders before...
