I've used this Starbucks a few times. The staff are friendly and work hard to try and keep the queues down, whilst maintaining a clean cafe and outdoor area. Haven't been upstairs as I can't use the stairs but there is seating up there, as well as downstairs.
I used my Starbucks app to pay for my items which is quick and hassle free, unless like me you forget your password! I'd always advise you keep a manual card on you for those times!
One interesting thing to note is that for reasons of healthy eating (apparently) they no longer show the venti sizes on the menu boards. You can still get Venti drinks but you'll have to ask the price as they aren't listed. I'm baffled by this as I drink the venti skimmed milk sugar free syrup frappaccinos which on their own site only come up as 166 calories for a 590ml drink, whereas a grande version of a normal frappe is 390 calories! Shouldn't they have Ventis on the boards and instead take off the high calorie/fat versions?
This particular store doesn't have skinny muffins either, I know it's contradictory but I actually like the lemon and poppyseed and raspberry ones in terms of taste. The sandwiches, toasted items and salads are typical prices for Starbucks but are nice if you are spoiling yourself.
The opening times are reasonable, it's open beyond the closing times of the Fishergate Centre, this is great if you aren't in a rush to get out of town in the commuter rush.
There is one toilet which always seems busy, so I'd suggest if the centre is open and you aren't a customer of Starbucks, use the Fishergate ones on the lower floor!
There is wheelchair accessible access with double doors (not self opening) but the counter is high, as are the card readers, they can and will move them to help you. The staff are helpful so will bring drinks to you if you can't carry them and there is enough room for a wheelchair to turn on the main floor so you can pick where to sit...
Read moreI, and everyone else in the queue, had a negative experience at this Starbucks this morning due to the service. First of all, I don’t think I was greeted at all. After I ordered, Anuksh just rudely repeated my order back to me, then when I tried to use my free drink on the app, he impatiently told me that I can’t do that there because it’s a franchise. I wanted to change my drink to a grande as I didn’t have quite enough money loaded on my Starbucks card, and was refused, because “it’s only 20p extra”. I have worked at Starbucks, so know how simple it is to change a drink size on an order. I appreciate that everyone has bad days, but it really sets the tone for customers’ days when you encounter that kind of rudeness. I saw the ‘review us’ sticker on the till, so thought the feedback might be welcome. Please train...

What a miserable day, it’s rained heavily all day, I spent my morning attending appointments at Blackpool hospital and was heading back to the East Midlands by train via Preston… what a difference a Reece & Kris made to what was a pretty grim day. Reece worked the counter and was very friendly, chatty and asked about my day, he was far from intrusive. Kris was cleaning tables and packing chairs and tables away (it was train strike day so they were not far off from closing), I was asked if I wanted a table/chair keeping out, I very welcome to stay. My train was due in, so I declined the offer. The dosage of kindness I received from this Starbucks duo was just what I needed, was definitely mood changing! Well done guys. The hot chocolate was...
