First time visiting here and overall visit was pretty good but some minor improvements could have made this a 5* visit. This restaurant is part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme throughout August too!
Managed to get a seat outside which made me (and I'm sure a lot of others) feel more comfortable in light of COVID. The only downside is that the outdoor seating is right next to a bus stop so there are buses stopping quite often which can be a bit noisy however if that'll bother you there is indoor seating.
Had to wait about 10 minutes before getting a menu (which didn't include a separate alcohol menu - see below paragraph) which wasn't great service but after that service was great because we were served by different staff members - one who I believe was the manager maybe and a friendly brunette female, both of whom were lovely, polite and friendly.
They also sell Mythos beer but wasn't on the menu we were given so ordered after food after we saw other people order them. They do a range of alcohol but these aren't on the menu but are on display, overheard that there's an alcohol menu but was never given this.
Overall I would visit again because food was delicious, it was reasonably priced (even without the Eat Out discount) and female staff...
Read moreLoukaniko was ok. But the pork gyros... meat itself was good but there was barely any of it, it's like when you buy meat at camden market from a stall and they overcharge you for the skimpiest amount. Literally bread and salad. The 'special sauce' is just garlic butter. It also arrived cold. Plus for some unknown reason, we were sent a massive, cold margherita pizza with the meal. First and foremost, why is a greek place without on the menu randomly making and sending cold pizzas.
I get sometimes restaurants send free food to make a good impression on a new customer, but sending a cold margherita loaded with vegetables is not how it's done and it's a massive waste of food because I don't want it, and I'm living on my own this weekend so no1 else will eat it so it just went in the bin. Would have probably made me happier just sending me a pot with those lovely kalamata olives in instead, I love olives! I didn't really appreciate this gesture, save it for Too Good To Go apps.
Potential 5 star place especially since I looked at Companies House - it is Greek owned which is always a good sign and I think with more meat (especially for the price) this would be a winner.
It's definitely far better than Athenian though - which I think isn't even...
Read moreIf you're in the mood for some delicious Greek food, look no further than Greek Tasty Souvlaki. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a friendly atmosphere. The decor is reminiscent of a cozy Greek taverna, with blue and white accents and beautiful murals on the walls.
The menu offers a great selection of Greek dishes, but the real standout is the souvlaki. The meat is grilled to perfection and served with fresh vegetables and pita bread. The tzatziki sauce is creamy and tangy, and the fries are crispy and perfectly seasoned. Every bite is bursting with flavor and will transport you straight to Greece.
But it's not just the food that makes Greek Tasty Souvlaki special. The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure that every customer has a great experience. They're happy to provide recommendations and make sure that you're completely satisfied with your meal.
Overall, I highly recommend Greek Tasty Souvlaki for anyone looking for authentic Greek cuisine in Reading. It's a great spot for a casual lunch or a cozy dinner with friends and family. The food is delicious, the service is fantastic, and the atmosphere is inviting. I can't wait to come back and try more of their...
