San Remo — Restaurant in Rochdale

Visiting Rochdale and after looking for cheap eats was heading for one café which turned out to have closed down very recently. This hidden gem of a café comes with a great atmosphere, excellent food and conversation, you won't go wrong. Aldo the Italian owner has been running his establishment for over many, many years and the Welsh lady (sorry I didn't catch her name) who served me has been there for over 20 years, how is that for longevity. Now I admit I like my Wetherspoons but if I can find somewhere local and that little bit different I will always give them a try. Oh my god, I can't believe that this place is still there. I used to nip in here at lunch time from the old older hill school , it hasn't changed a bit . Well done to whoever runs it now, it has out survived every other retail shop in Rochdale town centre, a real achievement. There must be some kind of award the council could bestow upon this...
