From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth, and the attention to detail in every aspect of the evening set the standard for a first-class dining experience.

Our waiter, Donato, was the epitome of professionalism—attentive, knowledgeable, and effortlessly charming. His ability to anticipate our needs without being intrusive elevated the entire evening, and his passion for ensuring an outstanding guest experience was evident throughout. The maître d' was equally delightful, exuding hospitality and ensuring that every guest felt valued and well cared for.

The atmosphere at Lucarelli was elegant yet vibrant, striking the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. Whether for an intimate dinner or a celebratory gathering, the ambiance provided an ideal backdrop to what was an unforgettable meal. The food was simply exquisite—each dish a testament to culinary artistry. We began with the Selezione di Pane, a selection of freshly baked, handmade bread served warm, setting the stage for what was to come.

For starters, we indulged in the Capesante al Forno, queen scallops delicately oven-baked with green breadcrumbs and a rich garlic butter, offering a perfect harmony of texture and depth of flavour. We also had the Cozze Scoppiate, fresh mussels sautéed in a vibrant tomato sauce with garlic, chili, and parsley, delivering a bold yet balanced taste that left a lasting impression.

The main courses were nothing short of spectacular. The Ravioli Lobster, handmade, round-shaped ravioli generously filled with fresh lobster, was complemented by a luxurious garlic, chili, parsley, and tomato sauce—every bite was an indulgence. The Misto di Carne alla Griglia, a flame-grilled selection of premium meats, including succulent steak, tender lamb cutlets, juicy chicken breast, and delicate veal, was cooked to absolute perfection, bursting with flavour and showcasing the finest ingredients.

Beyond the remarkable food, Lucarelli offers exceptional value for money, reinforcing its reputation as one of West Midland’s finest dining establishments. I don’t even know where to start — the restaurant is really hit and miss. It offers a genuinely pleasant atmosphere, quite refined by the highest European standards, and the staff served us well… until we finished the starters.

Since a large portion of the food was left over, the staff offered to pack it up for us to take home. As my son insisted, I agreed. The food was placed in a pizza box, and the box was brought out and set on our table before the main courses were served. We were all quite shocked — as you can see from the attached photos, the box looked grotesque on an otherwise elegant and well-arranged table. We immediately asked them to remove it, but as I mentioned, we were left unpleasantly surprised by the staff’s actions.

As for the food — I ordered the lasagne, which was well prepared; the basil was very fresh and had a lovely aroma, and the salad was also very fresh. Whenever I visit a Mediterranean restaurant, my measure of food quality is the olive oil — I always taste it. I did the same here: I poured a spoonful of the oil from the table and its taste was awful. I’m almost certain it was a mix of olive oil and vegetable oil because I know the taste of both very well.

The atmosphere was pleasantly quiet, apart from the other guests — on one side of us there were a few young Asian women who were literally shouting at each other in shrill voices and giggling obnoxiously, and on the other side there was a family with two babies who were also screaming. But as I said, that’s down to the guests, not the restaurant — I’ll repeat, the atmosphere itself was pleasant.

So, there were things I liked and things I didn’t, but the restaurant certainly didn’t impress me. From...

Deliciously Divine Dinning Decadence!!

Never having been to Lucarellis' Restaurant there is always trepidation about how the night will progress especially on a Friday night..... but there was absolutely no need.

There's private parking at the side and everywhere is accessible with none of those sneaky hidden trippers either. A warm welcome goes hand in hand with a contemporary lux interior and the presence of white tablecloths, shining glasses, intimate table lighting and piano music playing .... All come together with the happy reality of a lovely time ahead. Arriving at 7.30 the main indoor restaurant was jumping with laughter and relaxed conversation. We asked if we could get a quieter table as my 80 year old parents experience selective hearing..ie he refuses to wear his hearing-aid....so we were taken to the terrace (fully enclosed, lit and heated) which to say is a special place, is an understatement. And beyond lay the garden with what must be 3 covid hangovers ..... 3 plastic iglooesk dining domes .... with enough space for 8 ....totally enclosed away from the weather.....and there are warm "fairy" lights everywhere....and wisteria cascading from the ceiling of the terrace. The effect was .... dare I say transcendental and I haven't even started on the food!!! I think the first few words of this epic says it all with regards to the food........and I encourage you to get your thumb walking and phone or reserve online for that special night out.... or just because.🙂😄😁 A Big THANK-YOU to all the staff and Chef for adding to cherished...
