Rio's Piri Piri Bearwood — Restaurant in Sandwell

I am writing to express my disappointment following a recent visit to your Bearwood branch. As a long-time fan of Rios, I’ve always appreciated the quality of your food and service, but this experience has unfortunately made me reconsider returning to this location.

I placed a phone order and was advised it would be ready in five minutes. However, when I arrived, there was no one available at the front counter—only a staff member who appeared to be cleaning. I waited several minutes before he called for someone to assist me, and only then was my order started. Despite the initial delay, I remained patient and understanding.

The main issue arose when I got home and opened my chicken and rice meal. There were only four small pieces of chicken, and the rest was mostly rice. As a regular customer who frequently orders this dish, I immediately noticed that the portion was not up to the usual standard.

I called the branch to share my feedback, but the staff member I spoke to denied the issue and insisted it was "impossible," which I found both dismissive and frustrating. I wasn’t looking for compensation — only to provide honest feedback in hopes it would be taken seriously.

Avoid! Disclaimer; this does not represent the Rios brand as a whole, just this particular branch. I have tried Lozells and Cov Road and they’re amazing with Cov Road being the best so far.

So for context, I got 2 rice box meals which cost around £9 per meal. The rice was over cooked and clumped up as shown in the images and the garlic sauce was basically water in a tub. We had to pay 30p for a tub of ‘water’ all the other branches have better sauces and they DO NOT charge, they also give 4+ sauces this man gave us 0 until we asked.

The staff were horrible and even spoke rudely on the phone to others. A potential customer walked in saw our food and walked out we later saw him in Pepe’s. We were not that fortunate as when we went there were no customers before us (I wonder why). The sauce tasted Raw and I actually saw the guy just scooping raw sauce onto the rice box I have the image but did not post to respect his privacy. Honestly if I could give 0 stars I would. Do not go to this place whatsoever. This branch of Rio’s is the worst I’ve come across. Where do I start? The food took well over an hour to arrive even though it’s a ten minute drive and the driver said that was the only order to deliver. The food arrived about half an hour after the expected time arrival. When I called the shop to ask about my order, the guy was super rude and unhelpful, just didn’t care and said it was with the driver. Finally the food arrived warm not even hot. Ripped one the bag and the chicken had a weird smell. Fries portion was small and only 2 garlic sauces and 1 chilli sauce tun for a family platter, I mean you must be joking right?
