I visited here two weeks ago.
Prior to coming, I messaged the cafe via instagram to find out if they catered for gluten free and diary intolerances (not the same person). To my delight they said they did and so decided to pay them a visit.
When you step inside here, you cannot believe you are in bearwood. It has a lovely atmosphere. We were there for a friendās catchup, but there was also a mother and child sat nearby and also couples.
The cafe does not take bookings and so be prepared there may be a wait. We were fortunate enough to find a table.
The cafe were very accommodating for me and my friend who is gluten free, and were great at suggesting substitutions.
I ordered the sweetcorn fritters and asked for the cheese to be removed as I have a diary intolerance. They asked if I wanted more avocado instead and I declined, instead opted for more pomegranate. (I think there was already half an avocado on the dish anyway). I also ordered a side portion of turka beans.
The food was generally yummy. The sweetcorn dish was really tasty. I was also looking forward to the turka beans, which didnāt go with my meal, but had them on the side and in fairness was a large sized portion. I didnāt really enjoy them though as they put hard crunchy chickpeas in throughout. I still ate them as the side dish was expensive, and just picked the chickpeas out and gave to my friend!
The above lunch cost me over £20 hence the 4* rating. Food was nice, but feel the price was a bit steep for a small cafe in bearwood. Or has everything just gone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow! If I could give this 10 stars I would! What an absolutely fantastic find! I've been following Tamu on insta for a little while and was blown away by the unique and lavish presentation of some pretty spectacular looking food - particularly as they cater for vegans in such a decadent way (my partner is vegan) - after dining there this week, I can confidently say that their food is every bit as delicious as it looks! I had the sweetcorn fritters with poached egg (I don't like runny yolk so they made mine well done) with added smoked salmon - it already came with avocado, golden cubes of halloumi and a maple sauce drizzle... out of this world!! And was so filling, great portions! My other half had the vegan burger with seasoned fries - due to covid the menu is a little more limited but they made the burger vegan by taking the bun out, and replacing it with avocado and had added coleslaw too! It looked divine and was demolished lol so went down a treat! I then ordered a chocolate pudding which is hard to describe really... it looked great, had what looked like a chocolate ganache in the outside but was actually like a chocolate jelly? Then inside was this multi layered, multi textured cake, with some crispy elements and a caramel/ gooey centre... I'm not the biggest chocolate dessert fan but I'm sure for all the chocolate lovers out there, you'd love it! The price isn't cheap but for the quality, you simply cannot complain and the owners are just delightful! Cannot WAIT to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA friend recommended this place and today was my second visit. The quality, presentation, originality and flavours on offer are outstanding. This is a hidden oasis for food. I've paid 3-4 times for dishes like this in London. Today will not be my last visit. In fact I think it's my new favorite place (and it's an hours drive from me) We had avocado halloumi and poached eggs on toast with chicken flatbread and sides of corn fritters, more halloumi (don't judge) and chicken skewers. All of it was delicious and good value. The detail of garnish, tamarind sauces fried corns and pomegranate seeds and delicate cresses and coriander just makes it special and an event. I really can't say how much we liked it. The service was first class and even the plates and bowls are beautiful. Now I've had a turmeric latte. You may think you've had a turmeric latte! You need to try Tamus turmeric latte it will change your life- it's that good. It wasn't particularly local for us but we were visiting friends and it was them who recommended it. Let's all support these hard working artisans who pour passion into cups and serve culinary masterpieces. Thanks for a...
