Hi I never write reviews but felt compelled to write one for the Hilton in Glasgow. I can't fault the service of the reception staff as they were great and our room was very clean and spacious however the £18 car parking for the night and the state of the pool left a lot to be desired. £18 to park for the night is absolutely ridiculous! Don't know of a hotel who does this. The last time we stayed we had to pay for entry to the pool and didn't pay parking but it looks like the pool is free and payment for parking is a must!!! Utterly ridiculous. Which leads me onto the pool. We have stayed in many hotels up and down the country and abroad but I have never seen such a dirty filthy pool and amenities like it. When we got to the pool there were no clean towels, the guy on the reception was amazing and very apologetic and got towels for my daughter and I which was very kind of him. The changing area was filthy, there was hair and ground in dirt everywhere. There was also swimming lessons on in the pool which meant the already small pool was cut in half whilst these were going on. The stairs leading up to the sauna were filthy and the sauna itself left a lot to be desired. The difference in the pool water in the baby pool, very clean n clear, compared to the bigger pool was night and day. The water was green, there were hairs floating about everywhere and just absolutely filthy. My family will not be going to that hotel again and I would...
Read moreHad been here previously but had decided to give it another chance. Visited on 13th May with my sister in law for an afternoon tea treat for her birthday. It had previously been a self serve affair but it is now afternoon tea served on a 3 tier cake stand as it should be. Big shout out to Dana/Sherry + also another dark haired young man with spectacles who got my sister in law a glass of water (no name badge). Dana was very friendly and chatty and made us feel very welcome, taking us to our table and offering tea or coffee and finding out if we would like our (included) glass of Prosecco now or later. Dana returned with the tea/cake stand and Sherry provided the Prosecco. There was no rush and we had arrived on time but the place was filling up rapidly. There was a sense of relaxation and the groups were mixed, mother and daughter, friends and couples alike. The sandwiches were lovely 6 ( small) each, 1 scone each with jam & cream, and finally 4 desserts/cakes each. Strawberry tarts, chocolate gateau (so light), meringue nests and Berry cream filled choux buns. It was very well done compared to last visit. Big hand to all the staff and I let the manager know before I left how much...
Read moreFirst time trying here for afternoon tea, overall it was a different experience though the service was slightly lacking. Not what I expected for a Hilton brand.
We didn’t enjoy being interrupted mid drink to have our drinks removed then empty glasses brought back to us for us to refill while eating. Then being asked about coffee, tea or soft drinks was a little annoying (Whether this was a new start or experienced staff member is TBD but it still wasn’t what we expected and interpreted the experience and food tasting)
The overall food and confectionery part of our meal was lovely. Nice sandwiches with a selection of ham & cheese, egg & cress and tuna was a nice change. The strawberry tart was to die for and is a must try if you go. Along with a mousse filled profiterole, meringue and a dark chocolate torte (very delish but very sickly with all that dark chocolate packed in such a small sweet)
It was a different experience for us but we may consider returning...
