I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights away with my husband. I don't think we could have made a better choice. We arrived at Queen Street Station and this hotel was about a 5 minute walk from the station. We arrived about an hour before official check in but we were checked in without any fuss. All the hotel staff that I encountered were helpful and extremely friendly.
We had a room on the 5th floor at the back of the hotel. I was a bit worried as I could hear a fan from the building next door but the double glazing was very efficient and I didn't hear any noise at night.
The room was very clean and had plenty of room for cases etc. The bed was lovely and comfortable with a choice of pillows. There was a soft label on my pillow but it felt really firm to me. There was tea, coffee and kettle in the room but not much decaf supplied. I struggled to connect to the internet in the room but we were the furthest room from the wifi hub I managed to connect in the corridor nearer to the hub. (This is the only reason I did not give 5 stars)
The bathroom was a shower room with a very powerful shower. The toiletries in the room were pump dispensers with hand soap by the sink and hair and body wash in the shower which i find makes my hair greasy, so I would advise taking your own shampoo and conditioner. The hairdryer in the room worked well.
The included breakfast was good there were pastries, bread rolls, muffins, fruit, cereals, toast and also scrambled egg, sausages and baked beans. I was a bit disappointed there was not any bacon but made up for it with an extra croissant. There were plenty of fruit juices and a very good coffee machine. The breakfast room was kept very clean and restocked continuously.
The hotel Location was perfect for us right near the Royal Theatre that we visited on the Saturday night and near to Buccanan Galleries shopping centre. We walked to the Transport museum one morning which took about 45 minutes (just under 2 miles) You can get the Riversider bus for £1.30 each way or the normal bus service cost us £2.20 ( we got on before we realised it wasn't the cheap bus. We also walked to the Kelingrove art gallery and museum about 20 minutes away. The main shopping areas were only a 5 minute walk away.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and will stay here again if we...
Read moreThe receptionists are incredibly rude, and there is absolutely no one willing to help. If you encounter any problems during your stay, be prepared to deal with them entirely on your own.
Here’s what happened to us: we parked in a parking lot that the hotel claimed to have an agreement with. We went to reception with our parking ticket and confirmed the parking fee, which we had already verified via the booking portal. At that point, we were also warned — for the first time — that the payment machines sometimes overcharge. We were told that if we were overcharged, bringing the receipt back to reception would be enough for them to resolve it.
The next day, I went to the reception with the receipt showing we had indeed been overcharged. This time, they told us that we should have spoken to them before making the payment — and that there was nothing they could do now. Instead, they told us to sort it out ourselves with the parking company, even though we had no direct relationship with them.
The hotel staff is very young and, unfortunately, quite disrespectful toward guests. Despite my efforts to explain that we were hotel customers and that the responsibility was clearly the hotel’s, I got nowhere.
In the end, we found ourselves trying to explain the situation to a parking attendant late at night. He said the only thing we could do was fill out a claim form and mail it to the council. So there we were, in the middle of our vacation, searching for a post office with a claim letter in hand.
We initially assumed the rudeness was due to inexperience and contacted hotel management to file a formal complaint. The response we received essentially accused us of lying.
In short, from upper management to the receptionists, this hotel is rotten to the core. I absolutely do not...
Read moreIf you can choose a different hotel. First we never got to stay at the hotel, so this is to state that the service was so bad that we didnt even get that chance. We chose this hotel for a leisure group, I own a travel agency of over 35 years of operations. Our clientele is mainly senior ladies and we take them around the world. We requested this hotel a breakdown of 8 twin rooms, 9 dbls and one single room. This was confirmed by the groups department, we paid for all the rooms in advance. Our group was supposed to check in on Monday, August 18th and three days ago I was told that they did not have availability for the twin rooms. The worst part was that they acted in bad faith stating that we did not request this breakdown of rooms. This made us very upset. They gave us as an option separating the group and this is not something that my clients would approve/like and they rooms that were offered had different bed types and when working with groups it is important to offer the same type of bedding for everybody. So yesterday I spent an entire day desperately trying to find a different hotel for them, I made more than 20 calls, something that in all those years operating groups I had never had to do. I have never faced anything like this. I requested a refund since they werent able to provide the rooms and I was told no. No refund, not even a partial one. Now I have to pay 18 rooms, 3 nights per room, on other hotel and this one that I had already paid, no refund. If you can do not choose this hotel for your trip, so you don`t have to face this huge money...
