Came here for a late lunch with some friends and was really looking forward to it having read all the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. The Bucket List is certainly well decorated with a slight air of sophistication. The interiors reminding me of a private library with it's leather seats, couches and bookshelves.
We were shown to our seats quickly and efficiently without any problems. Then our orders were taken, and the whole service from the staff just felt friendly throughout.
I can't comment much on what my friends ordered, but when asked about their food, the response was "alright". I ordered an Egg Benedict and a banana smoothie. The Egg Benedict tasted fine and the muffins were well toasted with butter as expected. The eggs were also well cooked and to be honest, too well cooked for this dish in my opinion. A truly well-done poached egg on this dish should be runny such that when sliced open with a knife, the yolk spill out onto the muffin and then onto the plate, which this did not do. One of the eggs was runny enough to just about cover the muffin and the second was overcooked over medium to hard, but absolutely not enough yolk to even run down to the muffin. You can see these in my photos.
An hour and a half after, we all ordered some dessert to share. Again, I can only comment on what I ordered which was the strawberry tart. This was really disappointing, the custard tasted okay. What really annoyed me was the consistency of the custard which looked like it had been boiled for too long in a gelling agent before getting slapped on. I tried not to think that perhaps it was stale just because it tasted okay.
I was a little disappointed with my Eggs Benedict and tart, although the service, decor and drinks were good.
Overall, I was disappoint given all...

At 2 o'clock today I entered the cafe to which the young girl quickly said they closed at 3. I said that's OK I will just get a coffee then as I need to feed my baby. My mum asked if this was ok and bought a juice and they said yes.
Whilst breastfeeding my baby the older woman sweeping the floors began brushing around me whilst I was feeding which put my baby off her feed and made me feel very rushed and uncomfortable.
I then asked where the baby changing was to which she replied toilets are closed and continued sweeping. I said I can wait as i need to change my baby as she had done the toilet. She refused and She said no the floors will be wet. I then pleaded with her to go check. She reluctantly asked another staff member and they were unsure so I headed to the toilet to check and she followed. She opened the toilet and said its getting cleaned theyre closed. I decided to wait which was was unhappy with shaking her head. When the girl was finished 2 mins later I entered to change my newborn baby in complete disbelief from what just happened.
When I came out I asked if there was an issue as I should not have to push to be allowed to use the changing facilities and a little kindness would go a long way. She completely blew up started screaming for me to get out . Her words were, "do you think you're privileged to come here pay £2.50 to sit in this cafe and feed your baby " I was absolutely befounded by this and lost for words.
This experience would be enough to absolutely break a new mum. No parent should ever be treated like this when all you want to do is tend to your babies needs. I left feeling completely discriminated against...
Read moreEdit: I do not appreciate the version of events written as a reply to this review by the owner. The timeline is inaccurate. My wife had visited earlier in the day and returned with me much later - we were not there for 5 hours. I offered to buy more food and drink when we were told, no less than 5 minutes before 5, that they were closing an hour before advertised and was denied this opportunity. This is ridiculous. I am a business owner myself, and I don't use bad business management as an excuse for providing a poor customer experience. Also, we were not the only people in the cafe and more customers were turned away shortly after 5. They looked as disappointed as I feel about this.
I am not addressing the owner directly here because I am not here to argue. That would be a waste of time. I am here to inform others of my experience.
End of edit.
I had settled in to work here as I have been enjoying their selection of teas and they are open until 6pm - at least that's what they advertise.
At 4pm I started a 90 minute business call and was told at 5pm that they were closing early with no notice whatsoever. This was extremely disruptive and unexpected. They allowed me to stay an extra 15 minutes after I told them one of the only reasons I'd chosen them was the closing time, but it was still a really unpleasant customer experience.
Their bathrooms are also not that great. I had been regularly going, but I don't feel as though I am being treated to a high standard as a customer should. I...
