Cathay Cuisine — Restaurant in Scotland

I ordered a meal this evening after moving back to EK after a few years away. This was my favourite place to get a meal from but tonight has made sure that I never order from where again. The rice, was a clump, not fluffy or falling apart and had to try cut it to separate it with a fork. The curry tasted nothing at all like it did a few years ago and to be honest, it will go down as the worst curry I’ve had in many years. The food was not hot, even though I waited over an hour for the delivery, calling the restaurant to be told my food ‘has jus this second come out of the Kitchen and would be with me very soon’. I don’t know whose kitchen it just came out of because it arrived cold. The chow mien (which I told friends was the best in EK) hence why we ordered from the Cathay tonight, I now have to retract my comment of them being the best because I can hand on heart say I will NEVER place another order from here.

The noodles were cold, there was absolutely no sauce at all and it was bone dry, which isn’t appetising at all. Whatever had happened over the last two + years, things have gone down hill extremely fast!

It has gone from one of the best places to rest to (IMO) one of the worst! The food is ver y poor and it is evident that the kitchen staff must have changed because you would be guaranteed a delicious meal a few years ago but now I would not advice anyone to use them because the food is just not worth the money they change. Have used this place before and the food is good however we ordered our food at half 6 tonight and were told that it would arrive at 8pm due to it being Christmas Eve which we found to be understandable. At 8:15pm we called to ask when our food would arrive which is when we were told our order hadn’t even went in to the kitchen. I informed them this wasn’t acceptable as this would be a significantly longer than originally told but was met with a “tough, it is what it is” attitude. The food finally arrived at 21:10pm which was nearly 3hours from order to delivery which is ridiculous regardless of the time of year. I asked if there would be some sort of refund or saving and I was told no because everyone was having the same problem?????? Really?? Because they had made a mess of everyone’s order we were told there would be no refund or even portion of chips ffs, not even an apology? Absolutely pathetic!! Will never use them...

Been using them for years and had no problem but it's totally different now, phoned them tonight for a chicken satay , beef curry and a chilli chicken chow mein, the chicken satay tastes like it was 2 or 3 days old and got swept out the bottom of an old oven tray, the oven tastes like it's not been cleaned in a long time and the grease tastes old and stale, the beef curry was swimming in grease , and the chow mein was just poisoned with black pepper and soya sauce. I'm going to go in and see them through this week as it was disgusting. Won't be using...
