Accommodating to all my requests, friendly service (even with my English accent), kept me informed about the things I needed to know when I needed, great food freshly made on site
I tried the macaroni pie, breakfast roll, and ham & cheese panini over 2 days. The breakfast roll was fantastic with a really soft bap, freshly cooked bacon, crispy hash brown and large juicy sausages. The macaroni pie was great with the sauce, melted cheese and pasta but the pastry could be improved. The panini was alright, there was not enough cheese nor was it the right kind like cheddar or mozzarella, just some American style burger cheese slices. Bread wasn’t the softest either but at least it was a generous portion. I can’t speak about other items as I’m just a first time visitor, I’ve not had the chance to try anything else but they may be better for all I know
Unfortunately I currently live in Oxfordshire, England, so I cannot be a regular customer but if I lived nearby, I know I would be and would come back every time I return to Inverness. Would 100% hands down recommend even if a few items could do with a...
Read moreI hate to leave a bad review but I have to be honest, I feel sad that such a great cafe that's been around for years has taken such a downward turn since a new owner has taken over. The food is nowhere near as good as it was, you can tell cheaper ingredients are used now. I used to love the breakfast rolls but now the rolls seem to be replaced with tesco cheap bakery rolls and you can tell. Quality and taste isn't there anymore. Prices have also gone up a fair bit and doesn't seem to suit the greasy spoon nature of the cafe. I also have to say most of the staff are so lovely but there's one newer staff who is absolutely awful. She has short hair in her 50s and my God she gives off a very scary vibe, like she's angry and will bite your head off if you look at her wrong. Very rude and miserable. I'm not sure who the new owner is but I beg please go back to the way it was. Charlies was the best and it's sad to see it...
Read moreI can't speak for the other food they serve but I had the all day breakfast and at £6.95 for 2 sausage 2 bacon, beans egg and tomato. Fried bread is the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. It was deep fried in what smelt like oil that had been off for a very long time, it tasted like vinegar and washing up liquid and left the worst taste in my mouth all day no matter what I did to try and get rid of. Everything was deep fried and the egg did not resemble anything like an egg. It was the cheapest of everything and all the food looked disgusting. Left running to toilet and with stomach ache all day and horrible heart burn. Avoid at all cost and go to one of the much nicer eateries all over...
