Chinese Village Restaurant, Callander — Restaurant in Scotland

My family were here today..we purchased 4 main meals and portion of chips. -Takeaway Menu;.cost nearly £36.00... Beef n black bean & fried Rice- well what can I say the beef in the meal was very meagre - usually my husband and I share a meal as it's too much for 1 person..although I couldn't say that in this establishment tho there must have been a full pepper in the small dish..rice was loosly packed into carton..there really wasn't enough for both of us..no black bean sauce in meal either..portion of chips was a nice size for my 2 year old son to hold so imagine how many were in the paper bag. Beef chow mein and prawn chow meins- I have never in my life seen chow mein like these the noodled where very pale and looked like dish water was in the container...dismal to say the least.. Only meal that looked good was the ham omelette n chips with a little salad.. All good not seasoned properly either nothing Chinese about it.. A big let down as all meals weren't good enough to finish and will not return.. Better off going going to the chippy...

We ate here on the first night we arrived in Callander. The food was quite excellent, service very good and the place had a nice atmosphere.

Unfortunately, when we tried to return here a few days later on our trip, the owner/boss (who was not there on the night we ate there) turned us away because we didn't have a reservation claiming there was nowhere to seat us, despite the restaurant being about 80% empty. We didn't argue and left. We tried again the following day, the staff tried to fit us in somewhere, only for this 'boss' guy to show up again out of the kitchen. One of the staff asked if there was somewhere we could sit, he initially said 'yes, there should be', took a look at us, presumably recognised us and was suddenly like 'uhh, no we can't.' Again, many empty tables, and from our dining experience the first night there were no COVID distancing restrictions as a family was on the table next to us. I'm knocking off two stars as a result as I'm really not sure what this guy's...

We ordered a takeout from the restaurant whilst staying at the local forest holidays cabins near by, every thing was excellent, My phone order was taken easily by a member of staff, I was told exactly how much it would cost, when I arrived to collect it at the pre arranged time I was served by a friendly member of staff who Checked through the order with me while another member of the team brought it out for me all neatly packed up in a large box as the order was for our large family group. When we unpacked it all back at our cabin the food was still piping hot , It was all absolutely delicious , we all thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was the best Chinese takeout we had had for a while, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a takeout out , but I would like to also eat in the restaurant as it had a very nice atmosphere and was nicely busy with customers, a definite five stars all round...
