I had high expectations of this place. I can't praise them enough for how they've managed to squeeze so much into what used to be public toilets (such a shame that they are disappearing) and done so well. I first became aware of it prior to its opening when the lights were on at night & it looked terrific. A great idea to have a cafe next to this lovely park. Sadly I can't comment on either the food or their coffee as they never served me. I was advised as I was sitting in to take a seat rather than order at the counter. I was never advised that an order was to be placed at the counter. I was the second of three tables waiting, all the while the gentleman staff chatted to the customers, cleaning tables, but never informing the customers that he or none of the other staff would be asking for their order. In the meantime other takeaway customers continued to be served. Out of hunger and general irritability I got my things and left. This self same gentleman wished me a nice day but didn't think to ask himself why I could be leaving. I found myself saying that I was advised to take a seat but was never served but didn't wait for a response. If I'm honest this cafe probably isn't for me. I'm a bit of an introvert and I'm not a fan of overly friendly staff who enquire about my morning etc. I just want a quiet coffee. I realise that we're all different, but despite all this bon homie, an awareness of the customer and the fact that they are sitting in their cafe for coffee may go a long way.
Despite Milngavie having more than it's fair share of coffee shops, there are room for more, and I commend this new establishment in the location it's chosen. It needs to however address this issue between takeaway and sit in and at least advise as soon as the customer arrives. For me however I...
Read moreDisappointing food and customer service. We wouldn’t recommend. Zero stars if possible. Absolutely would not go back here, the cakes were stale and looked liked they’d been in the cabinet gathering dust for quite some time and the chocolate on them was turning white. The coffee was extremely bitter, obviously the filters don’t get cleaned properly or may be cheap coffee. The older lady (she said her name was Ash) who works there was in and out cleaning the toilet during serving and handling food. She just seemed out of sorts. Her behaviour was odd, manic, rude and seemed to have no customer service skills at all. The first toastie had taken 25minutes to arrive and was chopped up into 4 tiny triangles and swimming in sour mayo, on what seemed to be kids bread. The ham on the kids sandwich was incredibly fatty with a thick layer/edge of jelly like fat on it. Second toastie never even got to us as it was forgotten about all together. Bearing in mind we were the only customers in except a man and his daughter who got a cone. When we informed them we were leaving and to forget the toastie the lady Ash was extremely abrupt and rude and told us we need to call before coming in next time. To preorder a toastie! Such a disappointment as it’s local and would have been a great spot for regular breakfast/ lunch. Another thing to mention would be the toilet is just right next to all the tables and you can hear people doing the toilet when you’re eating. I don’t see this place lasting long at all. Even with food that isn’t great, I would sometimes find the attitude of the staff can make such a difference to you going back. If anything this lady would put me off returning here, even if the...
