Can't fault the cookies at all. They are always delicious and have really imaginative ingredients. Must have gone through the menu twice before now and have no regrets so this review comes from a place of love and disappointment.
At Eden festival this weekend we were excited to see Chulo's had a stall so my girlfriend and me hurried over to see what was on offer and noticed that a few of the biscoff ones were melting in the sun.
I said to the girl behind the stall and she said she knew about them, but there was nothing she could do. I thought this was strange as the obvious thing was to just remove them from direct sunlight. So I jokingly offered to buy them at a discount to which she declined rather stoicly.
The next day we walked by the same stall and noticed there was a fresh batch of biscoff cookies out and noticed it was the same girl working so asked what ended up happening to the melted ones from yesterday.
'We aren't allowed to sell them so we had to throw them out'.
I was a bit taken aback by this and after a couple of seconds said 'but you could have just cut them up and gave them away as samples'?
'if we gave them out for free then no one would spend money on them' came her response.
Shocked by this attitude especially at a community driven festival that aim to mitigate waste and whose main ethos is 'people over profit' I replied with
'but if you gave them out for free to people who haven't tasted them then you might get new customers?'
'Yeah, we're not allowed to do that.' she replied.
The girl mentioned that they have Trnsmt festival coming up which they do much better at.
I suggest that they stick to those commercial driven festivals if they have that attitude and will continue telling friends in Glasgow and the organisers of the festival who I know personally of this...
Read moreFinally got to try Chulos infamous cookies for the fist time yesterday, and it was definitely worth the wait! We stay in Edinburgh so got the chance to grab some at the Grassmarket market that they're frequently at. We got Boujee Biscoff (my fav), Milky Trinity, and Chulo the Caterpillar, all were absolutely delicious. Cookies are a generous size and stuffed to the brim with their specific flavours. A really good eat! The gentleman at the stall was also very friendly and chatty. We will definitely be getting next time they are in Edinburgh - or may just drive through to Glasgow (would be...
Read moreThe best stuffed cookies EVER! So glad they are opening a shop in Edinburgh, as we usually get from their market stalls at the Edinburgh markets. Flavour combinations are very creative and all taste amazing! My favourites so far are the Biscoff Brookie and 24K Magic. (check out their Instagram for all their flavour updates). Photos don't do the size of the delicious cookies (or the weight) justice, they are quite the eat! The owners are really polite and chatty whenever we have been to the stalls to pick up. Always get cookies when they're in town. One place you NEED to visit and do not...
